I mean, if you rally on a unit, your new units will just end up following the person they're rallying to, without ever firing on anyone, right?
I can think of very few situations where I wouldn't want my troops defending themselves if attacked when I rally them to the enemy's base. Ooof. I thought those patch notes were a joke at first because of that line by itself.
uh yes it is clearly dated and there was a "patch 16" as he said that just fixed one type of crash
DATED 7/7
StarCraft II Beta – Patch 16 (version 0.19.0.15976)
General
* Rally points now behave as a move command, instead of an attack move command. * Enabled the ability to manually add a StarCraft II character friend using the player's character code. Character code is a server-assigned numerical code that is displayed within the Add Friend panel. * Battle.net Achievements & Rewards have been updated. * All Quick Match modes are now available: 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and Free For All. * All A.I. difficulties are now available for play. * Cooperative matchmaking versus A.I. players is now available as a play mode. * Enabled cross-game social features between World of Warcraft and StarCraft II.

Seriously check the date before you embarrass yourself anymore :D There was an unofficial patch 16 which only fixed a crash bug so they didn't even announced about it.

really just leads to better players having another oppertunity to use their skill to pull ahead. a noob might just rally his units and ignore them until they show up where he rallied them to, while a good player will just attack move them manually when they finish training or just keep a close eye on them.
it's not a bad thing, it just adds another thing to keep an eye on. we don't want sc2 playing itself after all.

nope mines quiet still
I didn't have sound in menus at all for the last few patches of the beta... only sound was in game. Now I've got some pretty sweet sound effects back when navigating the menus after this patch...
I never bothered looking into it when my menus first went silent but I'm guessing that was the case for most people.
