Kal's first reaver didn't do enough damage, and mind took advantage of it on this map, using a 3 fact and the short pathing distance to do enough damage with the first push to put kal far enough behind till the end of the game.
I think when the first drop fails so bad, expanding to your nat on such a close map like requiem is so very difficult for P to stop, pretty much suicidal. The increased distance helps terran not set up in a critical location that will destroy you.
Early game for T is so hard on requiem but their mid game strenght makes up for it.
That drop D was -_-;; really nice.

If you are good at SC maps like this show it a little bit less. For example - it would be like adding hurtles and obstacles in a marathon to make runners run the race non-standard, as if it would show who the better runner is. So maybe it would make it more exciting for the viewer but worse for good players. That is just my take. For me, game consistency > excitement. Maybe that is the difference. thats why only one map out of the entire map pool is usually non-standard. you would have a right to complain if all 3 or 4 maps forced nonstandard play, but seeing as this isn't the case, you don't.

Let's see if Mind can win TvP on Medusa!

Your marathon analogy fails - it's not like Neo Requiem is a wide open map with no obstacles or 3 gas in the main or something like that. It just brings out the best in decision making, timing attacks, and other skills that a player must ALWAYS have, only they matter a little bit more on Requiem. And it de-emphasizes macro.
A better analogy would be that Requiem is like a decathlon with slightly different weights placed on the different events.

Ok that makes sense to me.

Quertify, SC progaming is a SPECTATOR sport.
It's purpose is to ENTERTAIN the audience. If pros play standard all the time then it will become very boring.
No wonder than when everyone started playing a more bland, macro based play in 07, SC viewer ratings dropped in Korea.

I find this notion of "standard" play stupid. Whatever is standard is what is best on the map. Standards change over time.

Very slick, Mind sneaks an SCV into Kal's base by distracting with that marine.
|
rofl mind baits his rine to get kal away and sneaks an scv in2 kals base
