I'm going with Free for the obvious reasons and Kal because of the map choices. I wouldn't be surprised @ an upset for the first match but Kal has his dream maps, this should be EZ Rape.
I hope free goes all the way, only because I thought sAviOr actually had good form playing against him. And if he goes far, then well .. that says good thing for sAviOr. Yes .. I am a sAviOr fan boy.
I hope Mind and Tempest wins, not that I really like tempest but he is a lot weaker than free and I want as many protoss players to lose as possible =)

Those probes he sent to his expo were ALL his probes. Tempest had 2 reavers there, they wouldn't have survived. Tempest still had a main with probes mining and free had like 1 probe at his main.
he lost a lot of probes when he got dropped first time, and till he fought that off he wasnt mining at all so at that point he had less probes left even tho he killed expo of tempest and was far behind

if Free just kept his probes up on the hill instead of maynarding them, that DT wouldn't have got in I think. It looked like he got glitched up by the probes.

Attacking the high ground can be okay if you want to force a battle you secretly think you can win. Tempest had his Reavers in a better position by the time they were in the battle. At that point retreating can be a bad move no matter what while staying and fighting can possibly land you on top. I figure he thought we would be able to take the battle given his good layout of units. But no. Free was just too good for him.

I think you need to re-watch the game. Even Tasteless commentated on it. Notice how he kept picking up the reaver and luring Tempest to attack it. He especially fell for it hard on the high ground battle when every single goon attacked it and he picked it up just in time.

picking up reavers and dropping them back? i dont understand what u saying lol, everything was standart "even tasteless" shit man, then fine
Just because it's standard doesn't mean it isn't playing with his head.... He was trying to get him to attack his Reavers so he wasted shots and his goons got hit.

mind drops the 6 base that kal took, probes + reaver try to fend it off, but it's not going to be enough to prevent him from losing a ton of probes. I think that mind is still in this game, especially if he expands.
kal going dt's out of desparation... kal has liek 8 probe sin total midn has kals high ground again kal gg's sick game on a sick map minds build was sick
haha, awesome game! great low econ game by Mind, and smart drops and timing pushes. Kal had some good reaver control at the push also, but made a few mistakes.
and mind, the scholar, wins with amazing play, helped by the fact that kal decided to expand to the 6 main instead of his own natural.
Kal's first reaver didn't do enough damage, and mind took advantage of it on this map, using a 3 fact and the short pathing distance to do enough damage with the first push to put kal far enough behind till the end of the game.

I think that is bad for the sport. If you are good at SC maps like this show it a little bit less. For example - it would be like adding hurtles and obstacles in a marathon to make runners run the race non-standard, as if it would show who the better runner is. So maybe it would make it more exciting for the viewer but worse for good players.
That is just my take. For me, game consistency > excitement. Maybe that is the difference.

But this isn't a marathon. It's completely different. The different maps that force different styles highlight adaptability skills, micro, changing strategies, lots of different things. Strategies vary and are always changing, so forcing players to play the same style of maps over and over would not do StarCraft its justice.

I disagree completely. Low-econ play like that one Neo Requiem is VERY much a part of StarCraft, look at the game's history.

I think when the first drop fails so bad, expanding to your nat on such a close map like requiem is so very difficult for P to stop, pretty much suicidal. The increased distance helps terran not set up in a critical location that will destroy you.
Early game for T is so hard on requiem but their mid game strenght makes up for it.

thats why only one map out of the entire map pool is usually non-standard. you would have a right to complain if all 3 or 4 maps forced nonstandard play, but seeing as this isn't the case, you don't.

Your marathon analogy fails - it's not like Neo Requiem is a wide open map with no obstacles or 3 gas in the main or something like that. It just brings out the best in decision making, timing attacks, and other skills that a player must ALWAYS have, only they matter a little bit more on Requiem. And it de-emphasizes macro.
A better analogy would be that Requiem is like a decathlon with slightly different weights placed on the different events.

I actually thought Kal played quite badly. He made quite a few micro mistakes and questionnable decisions. He was lucky his build countered Mind's perfectly.
Yea he let the carriers and goons mess up his base..that prolly cost him the game..and the zealot finding the wraiths and him letting the wraiths attack with a cannon and obs around.
edit: Kal look like he was getting handled the whole match until the carriers came, all his drops and piggybacks into mind's base were handled promptly and the shuttle control wasnt great thats for sure.

the wraith play wasn't going to net him anything after, although the gols catching the carriers would have been enough if mind hasn't had his whole econ destroyed earlier.

Well, considering he saw Mind's build from attacking, I think it wasn't luck. The shuttle losses were unfortunate but if you look at Mind's positioning around his base, it's pretty uncanny.

Oh yeah true loool, He's squirming out of having to do a 30k. Hah, you could do like a 5555 instead? Or a 6k.
Kals execution wasn't that great really. I honestly don't belive he could have won that game if it wasn't for the map. I really feel it is blatantly imbalanced. Mind played better all around imo (although the wraiths in the end were lol, but it didn't matter anyhow). Well, game 3 should show me if I am right.
More like mind just fell into Kal's trap the whole game. Mind thought he had the edge defending everything perfectly. Kal's goal with those attacks and drops were not to win the game or even harass at that, though it's a bonus. It's more to keep Mind in his base being defensive and setting up defense everywhere.

actually nick saying that kal places a random pylon just 2 make midn think theres a proxy but isnt i guess it could work mind pushing out now he needs detection
and that's why mind shows that he has been an amazing player. He just won on two different maps that have been known to be P weighted in PvT, by using a rush strategy that worked back when shorter rush distances were common, and it was said that protoss was actually weaker than terran.

Also the reason why its a gecko is because Best's surname is also the starting letter for the word 'lizard'. One thing led to another blah blah etc etc
I don't normally say this but I think Kal played terribly ;o Super sloppy;; It was like 1 battle, pull sweet micro - cap it off by suiciding your shuttle into turrets or walk goons into mines.. I dunno.
Btw, I really like the dragon pics, JangBi's strikes me as absolutely perfect for his playstyle.
I call upon Mind to slay all the dragons with his superior knowledge and mechanics in the TvP MU . Also Flash will take a few dragons with him until they are all extinct .

WTF is with BeSt's dragon??
its an inside joke. Long ago on the show ESC there was a small showing of the SKT house and everyone was eating. However what caught everyone's attention was how Best was eating his rice in such a weird fashion. Everybody started making fun of it (like yellow's kong face, boxer's OMG face, Gorush's >:O face and etc).
Also the reason why its a gecko is because Best's surname is also the starting letter for the word 'lizard'. One thing led to another blah blah etc etc
yeah translated jokes are gay.
is eating rice by picking it up with chopsticks to mouth weird? aha

naw if you see the full picture Best looks like some drifter being fed rice while the others are eating just normally.

i find it funny how those dragons match the players almost as identical as possible (except for best). really good fucking drawings
I was laughing so hard at the second game of free vs tempest. Neither got detection and both went for DT's XD it was sooo funny. On another note mind played extremely well and actually beat Kal who i thought would win. I also thought Jaedong would get far in the tournament so i guess I'm not that good at predicting stuff o_0

lol every game, kal always has super damaged shuttles.
Mind should've won on medusa, I really think medusa is incredibly PvT favored.
You can't even expand to a second gas expo on that map it's impossible. The bridges leading to these expansions need to be closer the the mains, or a second bridge from the main side leading to this expansion, just not ... this.
