Preview: Both teams have had a fabulous start into the season, the one expected, the other rather unexpected. Both stand on top of the ranking with a mapscore of 6-1 and two clean victories. Lets revise quickly: + Show Spoiler [games so far] + However beautiful the stats may be, it remains to be said that ACE and STX are classically not the best teams, while there is a lot to be expected of SKT1 with the revised lineup (+Bisu) and training staff (+oov) and especially from the current grand champions Lecaf. Lecaf fielded their classical stars forGG and Jaedong (while not using Anytime) but was still sent home 0-3. That being said, lets go for the predictions:
Sea.Really < Hyun Sea.Really has, despite trying to confuse MBC with a cunning pun, the merit of performing very well in the minor league, racking up 6-2 stats there. Hyun on the other hand is still MBC's next big thing. Sporting an impressive 2/3 winrate from his still early career, with 6-2 against Terran, he should be the favourite in this game. The only factor pointing in favor of Really might be the map - Katrina is traditionally a bad map for Zerg and a good map for the opponents of the swarm. Who knows, maybe Really will try to adopt the successful metal strategy Flash so convincingly displayed.
Sangho < Sea Sangho is on a 4 loss streak against Terran. He is 4-8 in total. His wins come from Skyhigh, who is known for a killer TvZ and a sub-par TvP. He has "Ho" in his name, therefore indicating kinship with Backho who displayed one of the most amazing game throws I have seen in a while (against Frozean). The only thing counting against Sea is that his recent results against Protoss have been so-so. However those recent games were mostly against Much (in his OSC winner form), Stork (at GSI, before Flash broke him) and Best (Protoss' next big hope). Not much to be afraid of and looks like a certain win for MBC.
Tester & hyvaa > Light & Saint The map is Hunters. Recently it looked like on Hunters the clearly best combination is Z / P, as in all four games where a PZ combo met a TZ, the PZ came out on top. Light and Saint already made this experience against SKT1 and I am simply assuming this will play out in the same way.
Goodfriend > Shark How good is Goodfriend? He is on a 3-0 ministreak and he has qualified for the MSL. He is playing on Wuthering Heights, a map that makes it reasonably difficult to grab a second gas expansion for the Zerg, therefore his chances should be quite good. He is playing against Shark however. Don't let the TLPD stats delude you, Shark has been good lately, making a decent splash in the MBC vs. OGN derby, going 3-1 against various terrans. However, my suspicion is that the map will play out in favor of the Terran.
ACE Match If all my predictions home in, we will face a 2-2 at this point. There is no reason for MBC not to send out Sea. He has been doing decent lately and the map, Andromeda, appears to be a safe place for terrans - they are the most likely to profit from the free third min-only base, and the cliffs overlooking the gas natural are an open invitation to their tanks. Who could eSTRO send out as their ace to snipe Sea? The best bet, in my opinion, might be Upmagic or Goodfriend. TvT will happen on equal terms, Upmagic could prepare fully for this Ace Match, seeking to surprise Sea with a well-thought out build.
+ Show Spoiler [results] +Sea.Really < Hyun SangHo < Sea eSTRO < MBC Goodfriend [not needed] Shark
eSTRO 0 - 3 MBC
How to watch
- Yaoyuan should work, with some delay to the Daum stream. Works only in IE and requires the TVAnts plugin (dl here)
- If you have a good connection, use the Daum player (guide here + troubleshooting); it has both OGN and MBC, but might buffer frequently. If you receive an error message, changing the streaming room is said to help.

Sea.Really really made Kal look bad a few days ago, but I suspect he is not as amazing against Z, and Hyun's last game was just monstrous.

If this gets to a finale, I'm wondering what eSTRO has planned to deal with MBC's aces. 3:2 to someone, I don't know who.

I think MBC will win every set but the 2v2

Stork was not "broken" by Flash. Stork is a choke artist who cannot win finals, plain and simple.

Stork has been sucking since he got raped by jaedong.
His initial group was an untapped Flash, a shitty zerg, and a retard protoss. He lucked out vs Best on the final set, he lucked out with luxury pooling him.
Fuck.
O sure he had a good run with GSI, but it was those gay carrier fucking maps that gave Iris such a hard time.
I really wish Best had made it through, would've been a much cooler final.

People said his PvP was best against Bisu, PvT was best against Flash both times, and that Jaedong could't play vs toss. I think he was a small favorite, but even if you say it was even he should have won at least one.

People may have said that Jaedong's ZvP is his weakes matchup, but the same is true for Stork's PvZ..., even though it's not as bad as Fakesteve thinks. Regarding Flash - I honestly don't think anyone could have won vs Flash in the last OSL final, he was on too much of a roll, not really a shame losing to him. Yeah 0-3 sucks, but he was basically beaten in GSI final and carried the loss with him.
It's not like Stork crumbles under pressure or anything, he has won countless of ace matches in Proleague, he won vs Savior and Gorush in PL playoffs and finals 2 years ago, won vs Anytime in PL '07 Round 1 Finals, etc

If you watch the expression on Stork's face in final series vs Jaedong, you could clearly tell he looked numb and hesitant throughout.

I never thought I'd see the day where I would find a PL matchup with eSTRO in it interesting.

Just tuned in onto the stream: Really is 12 ok Katrina SE, Hyun at 3. At Muta spawn time, Really moves out with a decently sized marine force while Hyun only has 2 sunkens. However, Hyun goes for the direct counter. Next picture in slideshow: Some sunkens got taken down, but mutas are largely alive.
|
OWEKOEMTOWMTOMWOETJWOMF REALLY JUST LOST LIKE 30 RINES TO 3 LURKERS
|
Wow that game is turning around so quickly. Hyun now has defilers, lurkers AND guardians. All of that from 2 gases.
Really is doomed .
|
Hungary11305 Posts
Hyun is at hive tech and has 3 lurkers as defense at his choke. At the same time he is both getting defiler mound and greater spire. Really has another bunch of MM and is ready to attempt the break vs. the 1-2 sunken / lurker.
After streamskip: Hyun is breaking terran choke with lurkers and swarm, not much there to defend against it. Wraiths chase away the guardians, but swarm + lurkerling force a way into his base.
edit: And it is over, 1-0 MBC.
|
did anyone see that ceremony????
SOOOO awkward.
he humped the air like five times.
|
Yea, if Hyun becomes another FBH I'm going to be angry.
|
Hungary11305 Posts
The second sunkenbreak is shown again. Hyun used hold lurker right next to his sunkens until the marines were in perfect position to be taken out, 2 salves of the lurkers killed like 25 marines, and I am hardly exaggerating. However, scanning BEFORE engaging could have helped Really there.
|
As hilariously bad as the ceremony was, at least MBC has some reliable zerg players proving themselves.

Sea vs. Sangho started, Colosseum
Sangho top right, orange. Sea bottom left, white.
|
Hungary11305 Posts
Sangho with 14 nex, not bad considering the positions which are far away. Sea is a little delayed with his rax and walls himself off next to the sunken colony.
|
Hungary11305 Posts
Expo up and 2 gates for SH. Sea expanding and getting a machine shop. Nothing tragic yet, but the early expansion puts Sangho slightly ahead. Sea finally sneaks in a scout SCV, finds 2 goons, 2 gates, core spinning.
|
Hungary11305 Posts
Sea's expo is up. 2 goons use the highground at the choke to attack the wallin, but siege mode kicking in drives them away. SH starting a semi-hidden citadel. Archives and stargate also going up - fast arbiter??
Sea has 2 scanners now, adding Goliaths already, researching Goliath range and adding 2 more facs for a total of 4. Robotics now for SH, so there might come a DT drop - however Sea is already more than prepared with detection. SH expanding top left while Sea is building another CC in his main.
|
Hungary11305 Posts
Sangho has a decently sized army of goon / zeal and will add observers shortly. Sea has no vultures at all but is getting a fast sci-fac instead, probably for EMP usage. SH has a tribunal now and getting an arbiter. 0-1 upgrades for Sea, he floats his CC to the nearest expansion, claiming that territory and pushing back the containment.
Vultures find the top left expansion attempt, blocked off with 3 pylons. Mines and speed are still researching for them. Upgrades coming from 2 armories and probably a fast sci vessel against the arbiters.
|
Wow what a stupid attack by sangho...
|
Oh hey, it's a TvP vs Sea and you're going to do things like that. Clever Sangho is clever. : /
|
Hungary11305 Posts
Bunch of metal with 1-2 ready to move out, Sangho has mostly goons and triple arbiter. Sea dropped top left but got eventually chased away by the protoss forces.
|
Hungary11305 Posts
Sea going straight for the main base. Clutch stasis on 5+ tanks, but he cannot stop the force. Goliaths are taking care of arbiters. In the meantime, a recall has taken out Sea's natural but he does not seem to care too much, as he has units all over SH's main base.
|
Hungary11305 Posts
SH still holding onto the defense, using stasis to good effect, besides hitting one of his own arbiters. Top left is still working for him, although Sea drops vultures there. As there are no goliaths left, the attack onto SH's main base retreats for now, saving some tanks.

SH fighting back with some goons and 3 arbiters, stasising a bunch of units. But with top left fallen, he will be low on resources while streams of white metal flood the map. Seems like he gged out.

Sea also with funny ceremony, throwing an uppercut and nearly himself off balance.
|
sangho did a good job fighting from behind but there wasnt too much he could do after sea completely ruined his economy
|
Sea's macro just crushed Sangho flat. Tbh, I am surprised he held on that long with that economy.
|
Hungary11305 Posts
I think that early attack when Sea was expanding to his 2nd was really deciding, he wasted so many units there and had to give up his contain.
|
it was the fact that he lost the army at the 2nd natural to sea's expansion attempt combined with the recall attempt on sea's nat.
he shouldnt have attempted the recall and he might have been able to deflect sea's timing push

MBC has good positions, claiming 3 and 5, while estro is at 2 and 7 - therefore MBC is maybe able to isolate the Z from his P ally.
