See, what you just posted there is what a rational person would have posted. I can read that and realize I'm going to have to wait for the E-Stro site to be done. I also think holding onto replays for over a month is ridiculous. Just upload them somewhere for the time being and then you can post the news and replays elsewhere after the site is ready. "Be patience" or "worrying about it will only make it seem longer" is something you tell a group of children to get them to stop bothering you. PR doesn't have to worry about us bothering him any more. I'd prefer to continue this via PM, as apparently all I can do today is derail threads. Seriously, good luck Idra! I hope you get some broadcasted games, that would be awesome.

Colleges would probably view that kind of a thing with high regard as he is extremely unique and can bring fame to a university. But even if that isnt true I just think characterizing it as "playing a video game" grossly underestimates the magnitude of this honor. Dropping out of a term of highschool to do something few can ever do is not stupid. It'd be stupid to miss this oppurtunity to see a new part of the world and play the game he loves professionally in the name of maintaining his proliteriate life and droning on like so many sheep. Oh and GL greg. You will really grow as a gamer if nothing else That being said I expect you to play me still AND get me games with some professionals. As much as I'm glad to see another foreigner in the Korean professional scene, and how much I'm really into it myself, I just can't see an Office of Admission accepting a player who dropped out of high school to get his GED, move across the world to play a computer game. I use the term playing a video game, as opposed to professionally master the techniques of strategy, mechanics, etc... of a renown sport. It's because in the United States, those who play video games a lot are still being put down as something like fat nerds who are cheeto covered and zit faced. The honor of going to Korea is grandeur, and I strongly support Idra in doing so, however the fact still lies that he is just playing a video game. University admission offices, I hugely doubt, will see someone who they accepted, only to not finish graduating, getting a GED and claiming to play a video game in Korea. What would their response be? It's obviously not my call, but I still can foresee something like a letter stating that since he did not graduate, and got his GED, they will have to re-review his admission, and make it harder to get accepted. EDIT: inc, I like the song in your sig (short stories with tragic endings), been listening it on my playlist for such a long time.

EDIT: inc, I like the song in your sig (short stories with tragic endings), been listening it on my playlist for such a long time. Incontrol is pretty much spot on. While what you say is true still in America, this is completely different. If you look the admissions people right in the eye and explain to them confidently that you're going to another country to pursue your dream as a professional gamer, they will be incredibly intrigued. I still talk about starcraft to whatever randoms I might meet when I go back to the states, even fucking girls. I have never ever ever gotten a negative response, and they are always interested as fuck. But if it's all done through writing then it might be a bit harder. Also no idea how ready IdrA is to proudly exclaim to the world that he's a pro-gamer. Last time I was in the states I was at a bar/party with my brother, and I was being a loser drinking alone on the wall at one point, and this girl that I felt was out of my league came up to me and was like..."hey whats wrong?" I was like "Well normally I would have fun but I live in Korea playing video games, so even if I did manage to pickup a girl I have no car, I have no place to stay, and I don't even know this city well enough to find a fucken motel 8...plus my mom is picking me up early tomorrow morning to go to the airport....so it's pretty much pointless to try or care tonight." Which henceforth sprung a long conversation about starcraft, videogames, korea, and how nerds end up owning the world then I realized I was pretty much in her pants. Until I realized the very line I used to start the conversation and get her interest was fucking true. Whoops : (

I'm guessing you're not on a college admissions committee, so I doubt you are an expert on them or how they measure kids. Are you suggesting that the college admissions process is materially influenced by stereotypes of video gamers, about things like physical appearance or because video games are "put down"? That's pretty ridiculous. You really think colleges look at your admissions file and give two shits about whether your hobbies make you look cool? If Idra has a good SAT and GPA up to when he left (I'm assuming he only has 1 semester left given his birthdate), I really doubt the issue will make a difference. They have 90% of your grades to look at. Even if it does influence an admissions board, it'll be the OTHER way, as it'll make him stand out rather than hurt him. Frankly, I don't think you have any clue about what colleges look at when they consider kids for college. Making a statement like "I don't see how any college would accept you after this" is just ridiculously broad and ignorant, not to mention very likely wrong.

Anyways Idra I wish you the best of luck chasing a dream of yours. Some people give you a bad rap, but while I may not know you on a personal level but I have never seen anything from you that would lead me to believe you are a twisted, horrible, or even just a 'bad' person. As such, I genuinely hope for good and great things to come your way, to a fellow member of our community. Godspeed
