I think the previous competition system is better,It would be good if the qualifying matches were finished in one day,The race schedule is so long that I forgot the race。

10 of the top 16 in BSL ladder were Chinese players. I think ZZZero had to change things up or 62% of players in ro16 would have been Chinese.

I dont know I kinda enjoy being able to watch a lot of people I know across regions and not just a few days' tournament. I think it also gives some space to new names for NA or EU, it s cool.
And for China as well aside from Mihu and my former clanmates Fengzi I didnt know many people, cool to see more of them facing each other.
It has some sort of WCG feel of old

I agree with the OP.

This took waaaaaay too long and the hype is close to zero now for me because of it and also because of the group draw "seeding" or rather lack thereof which defeats the whole purpose of regional qualifiers anyway.

It's a shame.. but hopefully BSL 16 will be back to the original, tried tested and working well format.

Thx for hosting and all the work nonetheless, of course. Cheers

I'm satisfied with this format - we get to know many players who didn't have occasion to made name for themselves. This way watching gosuleague next seasons will be more exciting as well.

Maybe amount of work didn't gave results as I planned, but who knew. I think there are a lot of people who didn't like it simply because of not all the cast being on twitch - so it required 'too much work' to launch the stream somewhere else

Anyway, for those who didn't like this format, you can approach it as every continent championships were RO24, and now we are getting into RO16 - with extended format where top3 advances to double elimination bracket.

I like the format a lot. I can't imagine too many people think like OP. I think Ro16 groups could have been drawn better (requiring 1 player per region per group) even if it benefitted my boy terror

I'm with Baal and other posters, I genuinely enjoyed the casts up to this point, at least those I was able to watch. Of course you could always do "more" in terms of coverage, but with limited resources this is already an enormous effort and it shows. As always, ZZZero and his team made something fantastic and delivered top notch quality.

I like the regional format. We see more games and more players, even if it’s hard to watch everything. Top 4 from each region as a qualifier for the finals is also interesting, makes the lower bracket more exciting.

I didn't like the draw for the global finals groups, it would have been better if each group had 1 player from each region. Maybe not as exciting to watch the draw then (lots of re-drawing) but it would make more interesting groups, and we just saw some players fight in their region and now they're in the same groups in the global finals, that feels wrong.

I disagree with the op. That new format imo is excellent. There's not such concept as "too much broodwar" lol. In any case for those that feel like there is... Well just take it as "qualifiers" and then the "main tournament" if you're interested in only the creme de la creme, just watch the main event. That way you won't feel it's _too much_ easy as that.

As for the other point raised here about the group draws, sure something could maybe be done better but guys give zzzero some slack and have some faith. Organizing tourneys is now literally his job. I'm sure he'll think of something very exciting going forward. Personally I'd like to see more of the "seeds" then get to do one swap in the groups as they like, similar to ASL. I know that BSL is a global event and that may be hard to accommodate live but it doesn't have to be live imo. Can happen over a week as well without losing any of the hype.

You know, no one forces us to watch everything. I personally like to cherry pick and watch matches and groups that spark my interest.
Let us not complain that there is too much quality BW content; the more the better so we can choose with ease. I like the new format for that reason - it supplies me with options that were not available before it. I sincerely hope it stays like this.

I think the biggest issue/problem is not streaming all of these on twitch.

But maybe the numbers are different and Im wrong. But that is what it felt like to me.

I also felt like the not existent regional seeding was/is a problem. Why not just split it up 1 per region per group? That way we can see different matchups than from the round of 24 and have the possibility to see the best players come out on top. I mean due to three players making it to the bracket phase, we can still see most of the talent go through. But especially looking on Group D, one of those top contenders will go out. This could have always been the case due to group of deaths, but this time we could have had a fairly splitt due to the regional qualifiers. But anyway it doesnt matter... in the end we will see nice games for sure

Otherwise I like the format and feel very grateful to the whole BSL team and especially ZZZero that they keep doing BSLs as awesome as they do

I am satisfied with this format and would like to see more of it. It ensures the most international bracket

Any reason why BSL news/updates are posted on discord and not on TL.net?
I don't use discord very much and had to find out about recent news on bonyths stream.

I always thought the previous formats were too quick, like others said now I can check more players that I know and some others I didn't knew, more games to watch so I'm happy.

The new format does give us more broodwar but it has the following drawbacks:

1, Mr. ZZZero mentioned that the new format is to solve the time zone issue. It actually can't. Season finals will still have the same time zone issue. The regional championship is just another formalized BSL ladder selecting players into Season finals, which can't help with time zone issue in Season finals.

2, It's not sustainable in the long term in terms of prize pool. Prize pool should be proportional to number of games played. It's good that in this format, more players share the prize pool, but since there is still rarely any new player, should we just concentrate more on Season finals to generate more hype?
and also if it is still like this in the long run, players would rather play one or two sponsored games every now and then rather than those long tournaments with disproportional return.

3, A minor issue. if liquidpedia is correct, why NA championship has 2.4 times the prize money of other continental championships? it's discrimination.
