even if he did kill the drop, literally the only way for T to improve his position is more drops and multiple locations. he should have bit the bullet and spend that money on defense at those key locations. i wouldn't even rely on patrolling scourge at that point, light will probably find a way in. seriously just play noob style and put lurks and maybe even sunk it, he was in a position to afford it. | ||

In the hardest matchup in the game (opinion) he doesnt need to rush to quick wins or feel compelled to simply perfect standard builds. He faces the same problems all zergs do and then finds a new way to deal with a nearly 2 decade problem, how to survive zvt after sk terran is out. This approach reminded of that brilliant zerg, Revival. Wasnt he the first first 2 hat muta into 3 base 3 hat manzerg? I doubt any of his innovation will become standard but.... man I am impressed. | ||

Game 4, wow what a game. Yeah, Soma's fatal error was not killing the starport and instead going after the barracks. Either that or he should've tried to snipe the CC. But overall this game was amazing and Light's valk micro is way better than FlaSh's. | ||

If he could relive that game I'm sure he could close it out properly. Also, like you said, Light's valk sliding was just sick. I love how he micro-d two groups of two so efficiently. | ||

What has impressed me about Light this tournament is his uncanny capacity to respond calmly, quickly, and decisively to strategic gambits by his opponents without a hitch. He was comprehensively out-thought both by Stork and here by Soma, but leaned on his mechanical strengths (drop play set one, multi-front attacks set two, air micro and instantaneous worker trades set four) rather than needlessly complicate his game flow manipulation by attempting to pick holes in his opponent's novel strategies on the fly. I don't think Light's solid standard-play prowess will be enough against Queen, however. Queen thrives on shattering rock-solid players at their mineral cores and then poking holes in them with the rock shards. He excels at countering the optimal option selects, rather than executing them. Accordingly, it might be wise for Light to try one or two eight rax plays and one base timings to get ahead of Queen's trickery and big brain. Generally, the dirtier the match is (-cough- set four), the higher Light's chances will be. Queen in six sets. As for Soma...exoatmospheric limit. Truly brilliant timing switch-ups and generally very, very clever play. Very excited to see what he can do from here. If he can iron out his late game decision making (please a-click the starport, mate) and add some more stable three-hatch openers to his repertoire, he's going to be even more special than | ||

Game 2 was pretty awesome with Soma surviving that early mnm poke then using queens with ultras. I think if Soma can work on his late game macro and drop defense (he needs to start getting more scourge out imo (game 1 at least)), he can beat Light imo. He had some great builds overall and made some clever decisions like taking that third below the ramp in game 3, but he needs to go a step further and work on his late game to beat the best TvZer atm. This is what Flash vs ZerO should've been. Also, grats to Light for beating Soma and making the finals. We are now guaranteed TvZ in the finals as well as third place and they both should be interesting matches. Makes me wonder what ZerO will bring to the table and if Flash will use his goliath builds against Soma. | ||

Actually game 3 he did have good drop defense for the first drop but he actually over defended because the drop was a bait by Light to attack 2 other locations at once. Game 1 yeah could have defended the dropships better. | ||

Man great job, Light! Especially that he was able to close it out by the 4th game. Soma threw that bit when he overdid Guardians, no? That was my hunch. Also, this will be posssibly the best finals and definitely looks the most promising since Flash v Effort | ||

The big "mistake" I saw from Soma in game 4 was missing the bio army going for the 3rd, he was SO close to finding it but Light did take a weird path and stayed further to the left than he needed to be, so the mutas only checked where they should've been. If Soma finds that bio-army he kills it with his muta micro and with the economy and larva from a 3rd base up he completely overwhelms Light. It was crazy to see how calm, cool and collected Light was through all of the situations he was put in, the decision making was crazy on point, and that he did it with such limited information under such pressure was crazy. Light has really stepped up to be a truly great player. | ||
