This is a preview, we are always opened to suggestions and constructive criticism and we encourage to do so.
Let's register for a new season!!
NEWS
- Next season is planned to start Sunday 20 October.
- New, unkown players have to have played at least 10 ladder games before to be recruited, in any case the name must appear in the leaderboard.
FORMAT
- Double round robin (each clan meet twice) - note: for div D probably a single or triple round robin, depend by numbers
- 4x 1v1 + 1x 2v2, bo3
- Starting map given, loser pick, no double maps
- Every Sunday, 19:00 CET
- Points: one per game win + one per CW win (i.e. 3-2 = +4 and +2); walk.over = -1

do you know what will be extremely cool and nice for the players ? using a majority of the ladder mappool.so players can use the ladder map practise instead of going to cw not knowing the maps and not finding anyone to play with cuz the maps are mostly used only here.that will save time for everyone and give better games in my opinion.

I agree with eOn here 100%. BWCL will be better off long term with at least a few ladder maps... at least keep it 50-50 between shit maps and ladder maps. That way it’s good for the organizers who like these weird maps, and then good for the players to see a few ladder maps.
Just my opinion. But I know this same concept has been voiced in the past and nothing has ever really changed. Yes, yes, I know, the organizers can do whatever they want

I'm obviously not a player and people understand my position on this, but I think having people play and learn different maps is good for the scene. Besides nobody ever knows what's going to pop up on ladder. Look at something like Powerbond, people could've been practicing it for years but many people wouldn't play that kind of map as it's not on ladder. :shrug:

Just to point up that every season we are taking a long discussion on the maps and even if admins have the last word, we are cooperating with expert mapmakers, one of them, Freakling, is also working for Blizzard and the ladder maps.
Last season we had to choose 6 maps from this list:
- Multiverse 4 (bwcl)
- Overwatch 2 (ladder + bwcl)
- Ground Zero 4
- Power Bond 3 (ladder)
- Elysium 2
- Gemlong 4
- Dies Iræ 4
- FS Rebirth 4 (bwcl)
- Gemlong 4 (bwcl)
- Grand Line 4 (bwcl)
- Latin Quarter 4
- Tres Pass 2 (ladder)
- Reap the Storm 3 (bwcl)
As you can see it's just a bad coincidence or an unlucky choice that we hadn't 3 ladder maps inside our 6 maps pack. We started last season before the new ladder, we are not clairvoyants... yet.
I would also be careful to call "shit maps" the one we've chosen, for the obvious reason I've just explained.
It was possible you would have played unknown "shit maps" as Tres Pass and Power Bond before the ladder thanks to BWCL or that we would have choosen those two and Blizzard some others.

I don't really see a problem with the maps. I think there are fewer maps appearing these days than before, thus we're left with the "old" maps to put into circulation along with the new maps created. That way, we'll likely end up with the same old maps anyway in the end.
Furthermore, I think a clan's ability to solve the map issue is part of being of champion material. If the clan members can ladder less in order to mas practice a map, then clan members become more dependent on each other. A clan that works hard and prepares well will in that case be rewarded with better results, meanwhile the clan who puts in less time practicing is punished for it. If anything, it's only fair competition.
It's a clan league.
Either way, I like it simply for the variation it brings. But I'm not necessarily opposed to adding some ladder maps to a league pool, as you suggest. But I'd rather have none, than one too many from the ladder pool.

I definitely agree with eOn. And I'm also super happy that you didn't have Fighting Spirit and Circuit Breakers in the map pool. The FS Rebirth still made everyone I played against pick FS Rebirth when they got to pick a map, though.

-Ladder.
Want more quality games?
-Ladder maps.
The 50-50 balance idea is good tho...
For instance, i feel comfortable playing neo arkanoid, stpl map, so that opens the opportunity for a stronger player in my team to just play a map where he feels more confident a.k.a ladder maps.

I love that BWCL brings new/old maps to the table.
Ladder maps is played enough as it is, on ladder and ladder dependent leagus (like BSL).
Having maps that aren't played regularly is what brings our team together. In iRk we have prep days and practise sessions for all our players, and everyone has a chance to get a good run of games on other maps than the usual maps like CB/FS.
I remember back in the days when we use to download clips of Oov, Julyzerg, Yellow, Boxer, Xellos, Nal_Ra and see their practise sessions before tournaments and leagues. I watched 15 clips of JulyZerg practising muta micro ZvP on Nostalgia vs some poor P practise partner, the next day 10 games vs a terran on the same map, muta muta muta.. same strats over and over again to perfect his game play before OSL 2004. That is commitment and that's how you perfect your play.
That imo is practise, playing ladder is practising ladder because you will hardly play the same map, the same opponent with the same strat, and all of a sudden u get 5pooled, wich leads to a small rage on stream, and then you search for a new game. That's not practising or training, that's playing ladder. And arguing about having ladder maps in every tournament to make life easier, just shows how lazy us foreigners are when it comes to develop as players.

im sorry but it is way to many maps to keep up.if im not mistaken in sc2 leagues they use same mp everywhere and it includes ladder.and they have a profesional scene.something we are not.anyway I stated that will be nice to have a big % of ladder maps in bwcl.I dont mind 2 random maps that could make it to ladder next season.like power bond or tres pas.

I agree with you, even if it might've sounded like I don't!
But other people are always asking for CB/FS because they are too lazy to learn maps like Power Bond or Tres Pas, even when you throw it in their face on the ladder, they still ban them.

no, SC2 doesnt use the same maps in every tournament
and map rotation is actually crazy there.
50/50 ladder/non-ladder balance seems reasonable.

Yup, and in my original post I stated 50-50. It's just reasonable.
Or at least try to consolidate in some way, as eOn said. It's literally different maps in 3 different leagues. It's hard to dedicate and practice and then truthfully, you start caring about 1 league more than another. Competition suffers.
I won't lie - I care WAY less about BWCL than I do for STPL. BWCL is the league I dislike most and it's really just because of the maps. It's not any surprise that STPL is a more popular league even though BWCL has been around WAY longer. I'm sorry, but something needs to be done that's reasonable to bring back more enthusiasm for this historic league. We have top players like TerrOr refusing to even play BWCL most weeks because he hates it so much.
STPL also has shit maps, but at least that is just BO1 sets, so you care less in a way. BWCL you play the opening map, then you just have more shit maps to choose from to finish the series. And then since each league has different maps, how is anyone actually preparing? Players have to know like 20 different maps these days across all the different leagues lol.
NaS was very close to even withdrawing this season. NaS has placed top3 in all previous seasons, and even top1 before as well; we're a strong team, I think all would agree. I think it's good for the competition to remain high and continue to promote this league, but if something doesn't change soon, I wouldn't be surprised if we do drop out next season. And if we drop, I won't be surprised if other teams follow as well.
You have literally a top 1-3 foreigner in eOn coming here to talk about the maps. What's funny is, the organizers aren't even players lol. The organizers are just organizers (and if they do play they're not remotely high level, sorry). And organizers always get this mindset of "I'LL NEVER PUT FS, I'M GOING TO PUT THIS MAP THAT WAS USED IN PRO LEAGUE 10 YEARS AGO BECAUSE IT'S MY LEAGUE AND I WILL DO WHAT I WANT" ...
Ok, that's cool and all, but what about what top players are saying? Legitimate players are voicing concerns for actual reasons. Keep in mind, no one is saying make it CS/FB; it's simply a suggestion of balance.
