The reavers were starting to hit Stork's army. If you wait, you just die without even killing anything. I think Artosis was right. Stork missed his best chance to move out before the second reaver was there. That being said, his chances of winning the fight then was slim as well.

Yeah slim chance, I think with 14 nexus you never get enough units. Maybe you can try to kill the robo with zealot/probe before it's done, but probes suck so I doubt it.

I personally expected this result, Stork's resurgence was good to see but the hype was much superior to his accomplishments; Mini's PvP is good, if there is someone who could hope to beat Rain, it's him.

im not shocked either. its been obvious for a while that mini has serious potential and is on the rise. Still, Storks clearly back in form even if not in tippy top shape. :D

contrast that with jaedong whos doing so poorly i worry he will retire every time i see him play.

Ah, for sure, Jaedong is making us cry; he still has to go to the army, I think he'll retire soon.
Stork's trajectory is way different than Jaedong's, it's amazing that he is improving again.

For those who watched, what do you think the difference makers were between Mini and Stork?

I noticed some micro differentials (which might be the more obvious difference-maker for Mini), e.g., where Mini had only like 1 more zealot than Stork in g4(?) for the proxy 2 gate, and Stork also had probes to fight with, but ended up losing the micro battle quite badly, and didn't have enough zealots to help hold (granted was a really really difficult situation anyway). But I also saw some really slick decision-making from Mini, e.g., the shield battery to complement the reaver push in g5 as an immediate response to the 12 nexus.

Generally I think mini just had better micro during engagements, and took some more risks than stork and most of them paid off (except game 2 where he lost his shuttle/reaver for nothing and then lost the game).

games 1 and 3 mini just had better control (and a BO advantage in game 1) and won most engagements.

game 4 I'm not really familiar enough with PvP, but seems like stork just micro'd poorly and maybe should have pulled probes earlier to fight zeals and try to snipe mini's probe to stop mini from building cannons.

Game 5 was a huge risky opening for stork that was vulnerable to all sorts of stuff, but I guess he was just hoping to catch mini off-guard and hope he would hesitate long enough that stork would be able to hold and gain a huge advantage. The proxy robo from mini was a risk, but not nearly as risky as stork's fast nexus.

Hopefully, Mini is very confident going into the finals with a 2nd place ASL7 title under him last tournament. I’m hoping the games are very close and exciting. Rain should win Snow handily unless there is a huge upset. I hope Snow tries double Robo mass Reavers with his sick micro.

I was rooting so hard for Stork to come out but in the end Mini seems to be better. But Stork going on 9-0 until now against best players of each race was so impressive and I want him to not give up and comeback stronger next season. Song Byung Goo hwaiting!

What happened to Stork’s scouting probe on Eddy? It was a real gamble he did but it just seems like way more of a long shot if your in the dark.

Mini had some really cool builds in game 4 and 5. I've seen them before but rarely at the pro level.

Mini outmicroing his opponent and showing some fun builds is always nice to see.
I'm glad he's in the spotlight making another deep run.

I feel like 14 (12?) Nexus just isn't a thing. I mean what does it even beat? Super greedy late scout after core? There's just not enough time to get macro going quickly enough to beat a proxy reaver. The mineral benefit of not being saturated takes some time to overcome the 400 mineral cost.

Not sure what Stork was thinking honestly. It just will never work against any opening.

Very fun to watch series. I think Mini proven to be the best player of the night

To me there's a heavy difference in mechanichs and multitasking, Mini's one of the best in that area right now maybe? not sure, I could see Bisu killing Stork in some similar fahion in my mind.
i.e. In game 3 Stork got cannon rushed because he lost his scouting probe, he lost his probe because he was trying so hard to not get manner pylon'd in his base.
Also why did Stork forge so soon? big mistake, 2 gate at home beats 2 proxy gate 100%,

compared to the ballzy games against best, stork was so nervious and insecure against Mini, that it really hurt his decision making and micro. Stork was not the same at all in these two matchups.
