I'm fucking love this events so much! Thanks for doing it Schamtoo. But still have some suggestions: About prize pool like I said before - 50/25/15/10. Aaand mappool seems outdated to Korean scene and not too popular maps either, so I want ask you to change: Outsider -> Aztec(or Uzi Sara), Camelot -> Crossing field
|

Please try to get more Koreans!

Hey,
First of all thank you for those amazing tournaments. I agree with Dewaltt this map pool seems outdated, CB is probably the most played map atm and isn't in the map pool. It would be nice to have 7 or 8 map rotating each tournament maybe ?
|
Yeah I'll update map pool this week.
Will change prizepool since now we have defined 3rd and 4th :D
Thanks for the suggestions! Open to more
|
Going to register. Missed the last two but don't plan on missing any more.

best map pool would probably to just copy GTB's one and remove a few
Uzi sara/Salamander/Crossing field/FS/Gladiator/Montecristo/Neo Aztec
|
btw we will be on 1.19!! Please make sure you can run it and get it installed this week.
Installing or troubleshooting 1.19 is not a valid excuse and you will still be DQ'd after 20 minutes.

As of now, yes. After first few weeks if we notice it's a problem... we will consider it again.

man the state of 1.19 is terrible,i dont think many players will like to play in that patch right now.
|
Hearing a rumor they will update to 1.19.3 soon.(assuming this update runs HD remastered) Currently we are on 1.19.2xxx version.

Yeah, 1.19 is really not prime for a tournament but I don't honestly have many better options.
|
maybe everything will be fixed, but pp doesnt sound bad to me,it is for the better outcome.

Well i cannot play 1.19 so i cant play haveatyou :/
|
If there are too many issues, maybe 1.16? Idk
|
I also have issues with 1.19, I can't play fullscreen or the resolution is wrong(the game goes off the screen), and in Windowed mode the mouse is too skiddish / inaccurate sadly.
|
I don't know what to do for this :\ I'm sorry all but I have to do 1.19 I think. 1.18 is gone, 1.16 i'd have to regress a bunch of stuff.
This really sucks but 1.19 is going to have to stay.

Can you play windowed fullscreen and/or windowed fine?
seems weird that only fullscreen is suffering since that actually requires the least to run the game, out of 3 options (theoretically speaking, for any video game out there)
|
I can confirm, btw, that I have Remastered! The stream will be the first Have At You viewed in the beautiful new graphics.
AS SUCH, and this may be eep but I ask that all players not stream their games so we can have an awesome tournament stream.
|
Signed up! Is there a check-in feature on smash.gg prior to the tournament starting as well? Just in case I can't make it back home in time.

Update:
I will be allowing people to play on Remastered if they have it. I would prefer people play on 1.19
"Does this offer an advantage?" Maybe. I've been noticing a lot of people still play in 4:3 regardless of remastered or not.
"Can they stream it?" NO. I know that sucks, but i'm looking to get all the viewers to go to the two casting streams so we can drive donations and viewership to a more centralized place.

I noticed that some older players that want to play in this Tourney are not familiar with the new maps, so I wanted to post the map images for anyone to look at:
Map Pool:

Great job from the casters, I had a lot of fun playing and watching this. I wish I put up more of a fight against my opponents, so I plan to start practicing more as I was really outmootched. But ya, this was a huge treat to watch in SC:R as well as seeing Sayle cast alongside it. It worked out great imo.

The tournament was great, but I have some concerns as well.
SC:Remastered tournaments might need to be regionalized in the future, or simply DQ individuals who cant play on TR8 on low latency.
The lag issue is a really big one... For players, playing in a stressfull situation like a tournament with a lot of latency and units not responding, is just not good. If units don't respond like they do in practice games, what's the point of practicing things like micro and control. Control is so delicate in sc1, with things like patrol, hold, etc... that it hugely influences results of the match if units dont respond properly.
You really kind of want TR 12 (this is only possible in region based tournaments most likely), but anything under TR8 low latency and it simply becomes kind of a farce for players to control their units properly.

First time watching this tourney. Didn't have a TL account before but just wanted to say thank you to Schamtoo and everyone else involved, including the players. Some great games on display. Looking forward to SC:R even more now

Maybe with more and more people coming into this kind of tournaments it will be possible but at the moment it's not, since HAT had like 44 entrants? Counting out people that never appeared it (judging by BYE rounds were like 12) that leaves 32 people. Now imagine not allowing people with worse connection to play and you're down to what? 20-25 people at max.

I totally get where you are coming from, but I feel like as it is, the bw community is already pretty small. I think it would be difficult to regionalize the tournament without diminishing the level of participation greatly. Any ideas for a solution to this? I feel like as it is, the tournaments have *just* enough people to justify schamtoos personal investment on such a regular basis.
Hopefully if the remaster brings a population swell this could happen, but as it stands im pretty skeptical about any additional reductions to the participation.

My interpretation of this post is that the tournament, or following tournaments, should be region locked or at the very least, players should play with acceptable ping. If you don't meet the ping/turn-rate requirements, you can't play.
Lag and StarCraft have gone together as long as I remember, I remember even Yankee League having issues with lag and that was run with most players being in the USA. and the Justin.tv StarLeague, which was my first international tournament, wasn't without it's lag issues.
I feel, that the tournament organizer has the ultimate say in how his/her tournament should be run and the rules should be outlined. When I ran the Justin.tv Star League, I had a hard stance. If issues of lag were brought up I would have the players connect to other players from the same region of the world and then with other regions nearby. If one player was consistently lagging in ALL tests, that person would be DQ'd. Luckily it never came down to that but I had a system in place just in case.
Is it unfair in some regard? Yes. For the sake of the tournament, the show must go on and sometimes a hard call needs to be made but that call needs to be made by Schamtoo.
|
I also think the lag issues must be recognized by admins, not only in this tournament but in hopefully all to come. Micro and multitasking is a HUGE part of the game, which can't be performed normally in lag scenarios. The hazards of this varies due to players styles and match ups of course and many times will either lead into ridiculous performances due to players trying to play normal game OR changing the strategy completely just because you know the strategy can't be executed well in lag.
What makes a good player into a great player is usually their ability to execute strategies better than the other player, think further than the other player, be faster than the other player, these things very often don't apply in lag scenarios, so the lag will most likely help the lesser player a ton, same in some match ups(PvT for example is really really hard while played in lag with slow response time).
I understand the problems are sometimes hard to fix, but I hope they wont ALWAYS be looked over upon. Lag changes the game dramastically, I hope everyone understands it.
I love the tournaments and really appreciate for your work. This is just something I hope will be taken in consideration in the future The games are being casted for a big audience and are available to be seen for everyone for a long long time. When you can't perform well due to lag issues, it's really frustrating for the players.
I only had lag problem in one game this tournament so I was pretty happy this time, but this same problem has been around for a long time, in every single tournament everywhere, and the reaction from staff is always something like "it's not that bad" or "play it anyway" etc. :D
Just my two cents, but thank you for creating a great tournaments nevertheless!! <3
|
Yeah, I really wish we didn't have to deal with lag. It's been killing a lot of people's ability to give it their all I think, and even viewing experience I get frustrated when I don't know what the solution is.
However, 739 is right on the money for how I feel... There's simply not enough players to divide up the scene. Been saying this for a long time ;( It's super unfortunate but I don't know what a better solution is.
I'm all ears though, if people have solutions. I thought about forcing everyone to use like a VPN or something if lag is bad, but I haven't got a clue how well that will go over. Probably poorly.

Do SC2 have same problems with lags?
|
Oh, you think lag is your ally. But you merely adopted the lag; I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see turn rate 12 until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but LAN!

Alright this shit is hilarious haha
