Eh no. Jaedong was low on drones for a long time in the beginning because he made so many lings. His third was so damn late and had almost no drones the whole time.

It's harder at first, but neither are that hard once you watch enough games. Any experienced watcher would have had a sense of who was ahead that entire game, and whether both players' macro was on point. It was definitely NOT a given, even for a progamer, that Terran would have had the # of units Flash did that game.

It is true that the observer plays a much more important role when you don't have all this automatic information all over the screen. I think the ASL observer has been mediocre so far at showing important things besides "here is where some units are."

And you are forced to judge it based on how much stuff they tend to have in x situation or in general compared to other players. It makes it much more mystical and esoteric. It makes it cooler.
