I think the fan support of OGN and MBC is being overestimated.
If OGN and MBC make their own pro league I don't believe the same announcers will cover it. And the pro teams might not attend in protest. Plus OGN and MBC's profits are lower.
KeSPA and the pro teams hold all the cards and don't want to relent. They know they can force StarCraft viewers to watch whatever they damn well please and get away with it.
They should just make a new 8man proleague with airforce , ogn, mbc and any other team that decides not to be lame and have qualifiers for amateur teams like 3.33 [gm] to fill in the spots, so it'd be like a pro/semipro/amateur clan/team thing^^ im pretty sure that'd be kinda successful....
damnit, the fact that the rights are sold to IEG really screws things up. if it were just KeSPA and OGN/MBC it'd be much easier to come to an agreement, but now with a third party that's locked in there and has money committed, it'll be harder, because IEG'll lose money (and face) on it if they don't get enough out of the broadcasters. it's like a schoolyard fight between two friends that's escalated to the point where it's out of their control.
did KeSPA permanently sell the rights to IEG, or is this like a 1-2 year deal?
Wow, I wonder who is going to fold first. Kespa, an association of sponsors paying players salaries who aren't playing games, IEG, who payed a lot of money for the rights to Starcraft games that aren't being played, or OGN/MBC, who have a huge hole in their television lineups. I think OGN/MBC is in the strongest position, since they could theoretically air other content, while Kespa and IEG completely lose out if no starcraft games are played.

iirc, 3 years? because that's what mbc/ogn was negotiating for when they made the "agreement"
3 years, ouch, thanks. we're in for a hell of a ride.
i can't see IEG completely backing down (except on the price tag, which is probably initially inflated), because whoever's in charge at IEG would look really stupid if they did. i don't really see what kespa can do now either. just hope IEG/OGNMBC can strike a deal.
