OGN/MBC have once again started a fight with IEG. In their recent meeting, IEG demanded a large sum of money which MBC and OGN both thought were ridiculous. As a result, the companies were unable to come to a agreement once again, and the ties were broken. Hearing this news, the Managers of each team except for MBC and OGN started a boycott of the MSL prelims, and left the stadium during commercial break. The future of Proleague, Starleague, and Brood War Progaming in general has just been put in jeopardy. -Live2Win @ MSL Prelim Live thread

All the teams except for hero's and sparkyz walked out at a commercial break. Saw it happen "live" on sc2...pretty bad ass ![]() - cue dos to Inferno in the sc2 chat for relaying those figures. Also from the MSL prelims thread.

Now OGN and MBC can't even make their own team league as IEG will simply ask KeSPA to make progaming teams boycott it... WTF

![]() edit: KeSPA had to do something with this boycott as it's made of roteams' sponsors represents. Why else would progaming teams do this the day OGN and MBC rejected this stupid IEG offer?

I'd like to hear more from him now. What's the point without the TV stations.

It says they still want to want to work with OGN/MBC and they will have another meeting by this weekend. They also say they have a hidden "big card" (?) for the meeting. Also, tomorrow's Shinhan Master's games will remain unaffected, and will go as scheduled.

The ONLY thing that could've gone wrong here was the introduction of IEG into the scene, and it DID. As I expected, they're just a bullshit middle-man company wanting a slice of the pie. But I didn't expect them to be this ruthless this early on. Do I remember correctly that KeSPA sold exclusive broadcasting rights to IEG, and now broadcasting companies will have to pay IEG to show Starcraft? If that's the case, the blame lands squarely on KeSPA's plate for making such a rash move without negotiating to the best of their ability with MBC and OGN. Is there anything legally that can be done for KeSPA to get the rights back??

OGN/MBC used to be able to broadcast Proleague without having to pay for the rights, so OGN/MBC are now having to deal with some significant fees that they've never had to before. Of course, either OGN or MBC could have bought the broadcasting rights directly from KeSPA, but neither of them bid. IEG was the sole bidder and now OGN/MBC have to go through IEG in order to broadcast those games.
