13일 파이터포럼과 전화통화를 나눈 안석열의 목소리에는 아직도 아쉬움이 묻어 있었다. 4년 동안 몸 담았던 e스포츠계를 떠난다는 결정을 내리는 과정이 쉽지 않았고, 지금까지도 갈등하는 듯한 느낌이었다. 그래서인지 안석열은 “흔들리면 안될 것 같아서…”라는 말을 반복했다. 자기 손으로 내린 결정을 굳게 지키겠다는 뜻이었다.
On February 13th when Fighterforum ringed up Ahn Seok-Yeol(Siva), we could feel his inconvenience. It was very hard to dicide his retirement from E-Sports world which was his place for 4 years, and we sensed he is feeling difficulty. He says, like it was true, "I thought I wouldn't hesitate, so..." again and again. Maybe it means that he keeps his dicision firmly.
-은퇴를 결심하게 된 계기는. ▶군대 문제가 가장 컸다. ‘23’이라는 나이는 장기적으로 프로게이머 생활을 할 생각인 선수들에게는 아직 어린 나이이지만 군에 입대하는 나이로는 많다고 생각한다. 일찌감치 군에 다녀온 뒤 다른 길을 걷기 위해 은퇴를 결심했다.
-What is the motive of your retirement? ▶Military service problem was first. '23'(22 in European age counting) years old is young age for who plays progame for a long time, buy it is old for who goes to army normally. I dicided to retire for solving the problem and finding new path of my life.
-주위의 만류는. ▶아직까지 성공할 수 있고, 시간도 남아 있지 않냐며 붙잡는 사람들이 많았다. 공군에 한번 더 지원해 보지 않겠냐는 이야기도 있었지만 더 이상 흔들리면 안 될 것 같아서 독하게 은퇴를 마음 먹었다. 2005년 말에도 은퇴 이야기를 꺼냈다가 주위의 만류로 포기한 적이 있다.
-wasn't you held back(by your family, coach or teammate)? ▶Some people says that I could success, and it is not late. And other says "apply to air force team again." but I resolved firmly because I thought I would never have been shaked. In end of 2005, I thought about retirement but people held back, and I gave up.
-가장 아쉬워한 사람은 누구였나. ▶팬택에서 한솥밥을 먹었던 박영훈 선수다. 동갑내기라 장난도 많이 치고, 진지한 고민도 함께 했던 동지다. 송별회 때 둘다 울먹거리며 마지막 인사를 했을 때가 기억 난다. “이제 누구랑 장난치냐”라는 말을 나눴다.
-Who was inconvenienced most? ▶Pantech teammate Park Yeong-Hoon(Stay[Hyo]). We are same age, so I played with him, and worried with him. During my farewell party, we said goodbye feeling so sad. And we talked "after this, who would play with me".
-프로게이머 생활하면서 가장 기뻤을 때는 언제인가. ▶이길 수 없다는 팀을 꺾었을 때가 가장 기뻤다. 삼성전자 소속으로 출전한 스카이 프로리그 2004에서 KTF와의 경기에서 승리하면서 팀의 연패를 끊었을 때 정말 기뻤다.
-What was your best time during your progamer life? ▶It was that My team beat a team named "defeated never". In SKY Proleague 2004, when I was in Samsung, we beat KTF and breaked our losing streak. It was best.
-기억에 남는 경기는 무엇인가. ▶마이너리그에서 요환이형과 했던 경기를 잊을 수 없다. 지금 생각하면 내가 충분히 이길 수 있는 경기였는데 너무 긴장했다. 그 때 메이저리그에 진출했다면 조금 더 성장할 수 있었을 것이라 믿는다.
-What is your memorable game? ▶I can't forget th game In Minor League(it means ODT or Survivor, I forget which is the game he talked about.), with Lim Yoh-Hwan(Boxer). When I think about that game, I could win enough but I was nervoused. I could grow if I won it and went to Major League(it means OSL or MSL).
-군에 입대하기 위해 은퇴했다. 영장은 제출했나. ▶올 봄 안에 가려고 계획하고 있다. 아직 공군이나 육군, 어느 쪽인지 정하지 않았다. 공군을 가더라도 프로게이머로 지원할 생각은 없다.
-You retired for army. Did you send you application? ▶I planed that I will go by this Spring. but I didn't dicide air force or army. I will not join Air Force progame team even if I went to air force.
-미래에 대한 청사진은 기획한 것이 있나. ▶지금 계획으로는 게이머나, 코치, 감독 등으로는 복귀하지 않을 것이다. 새로운 인생을 살 생각이다.
-What do you think about your future(after finished military service)? ▶At now, I don't think about gamer, coach, 1st team manager or other work about pro. I'll live new life.
yeah well but u cannot be a progamer forever especially when u dont succeed in any major tournaments.. anywayz it's always kinda sad to see a well known progamer retiring
Every retirement reminds of Rekrul's Korea Story. He talks about how a bunch of young 20-year-olds who will never make it big into OSL or MSL gaining no work experience and pretty much becoming surplus people in Korea.
he had awesome talent, shame he never really made it. he seemed like a nice guy when i spoke to him on bnet and i hope he finds success in whatever he chooses to do next

Just because it's memorable for him doesn't mean you'll think it's memorable or amazing. The most glamorous and flashy game is not always the most memorable.

switch the "do" and "did" and you will get the english right um... no i dont think siva did much as in the interview he said he couldn't even make it out of Dual tournament or survivor i guess

um i think what zulu's point is (regardless of whether its memorable or not in this context...) that he didnt even make it out of ODT after 4 years of pro status

if the game vs boxer he was talking about was the ETD game one its not hard to believe that its his most memorable. hes made it into osl at least once hasnt he?

Quite sure he never made it into either OSL or MSL.
