I personally think the maps could have produced way better games but if Mind decides to bunker rush each game then it's no surprise what happens. I think the missing team houses and coaches played a huge role. The biggest difference between late stage torunament games from back in the day and now is the preparation.
It's a smaller tourny with finals around the time of a bunch of others, between two opponents with a clear skill gap. I dont think the play was unexpectedly bad when you take it in context.
It was great! We had front row seats, so we were up close to all the action, right next to Kwanro's parents (who are extremely nice people, I might add). Hong "YellOw" Jin Ho actually sat next to us, but he left right after the final ceremony, so there wasn't any good time to pester him for an autograph and picture haha. We did get a picture with Kwanro, so that was pretty cool!
This was actually the first Brood War tournament I have ever attended and the first I've seen since before WOL.
well that defiler was 20 seconds too late and the dark swarm was also 20 seconds too late. If Kwanro had that tech 20 seconds eariler, even 10 seconds eariler (when he still had lurkers alive), then Mind would have run out of gas off his 1 base tech and the game was basically over.
