Toronto Fun League Just reminding the Starcraft community that there will be Starcraft LAN tournament next saturday and sunday. The BYOC LAN will be taking place in Toronto, Ontario. It will consist of Starcraft, Warcraft and mostly Counter-Strike.
When?: December the 16th and 17th. Where?: CNIB Centre : 1929 Bayview Avenue Entry Fees?: $40 I know $40 may seem a lot of money to some of you, but in order for kick ass prizes, you need to pay a sufficient amount ^^
Good luck to all participants and I hope to see you all there! For more information visitToronto Fun League Website

The at the door fee is $50 btw...not $40...$40 is only for preregistration.

Sorry 40 is just to much. Plus anything more than one day would be wasting my weekend. Too bad :[

dude 40 dollars is a lot wtf
|
I'd love to go but too much hmwk this weekend and up to the christmas break....and yeah......$40 does sound like a lot

Just want to let people know, if you didn't receive your prize at WCG 2004/2003, these guys probably have it/sold it. I'm not sure if it's the same people running it as before but TFL was basically the organization that did WCG Canada/USA/Mexico those years. They are all bastards

cnib = canadian institute for the blind? u know how many shots i can buy with 40$
|
40 is alot man if they host tourney most of the money should be coming from sponsorss and stuff not us
|
Im not going for 50 entry fee. Thats a joke. If i wanted to go to some lan, it would be to have fun and not wast monet for a tourney i know i cant win.

There was some interest in having a Toronto LAN a while ago.
But that was just a LAN (team games, games for fun, etc.), not a LAN tournament. Also, we were going to use a net cafe, not BYOC.

after reading everything it sounds like a money draining event. Everyone is paying 50$ entrance fees and all they have for prizes are monitors and dvd rewriterS? cmon.. could atleast provide computers to play on and throw in some nice computer prizes or money prizes.

I would go but im not flying to ontario until the 18th.

ok...first off i'm not here to defend TFL...but that accusation made me raise an eyebrow...
firstly...how is it that a Toronto based organization gets to organize WCG for USA and Mexico?
and secondly, WCG Canada before this year was prone to disorganization on the part of WCG Canada itself, and might not have been TFL...

I apparently can not find any strong evidence to back myself up, so take it as unconfirmed, in 2004 a company (I don't remember the name) bought rights for WCG Canada, USA and Mexico. (I know this was reported on SCL some time that year). TFL had run WCG Canada in 2003 (I know this for a fact, I was there) so apparently this company hired TFL to run all of it's qualifiers in North America. They flew around the countries and helped set up the qualifiers. (this includes the finals for all three countries). If a played from Mexico who attended the 2004 event could confirm that there were a bunch of Canadians that couldn't speak spanish organizing the finals for Mexico, that would be great.
Again I can't confirm anything but after talking to Fernando Aspiazu who was a FIFA admin for them, he said they took everything. TFL has not been contacted about hosting any other WCG qualifiers.

wow u had a lot of luck then, cause i also knew of those rumours. WCG mexico at least 2 years ago as i've been told was a total crap... i wasnt there but friends of mine told me.
and again 50 dollars for a LAN tournaments is way to excesive... unless u give like gold prices or something really awesome i dont think many SC players are willing to pay

yeah what happened to that, a cheap low-key event downtown mostly just to meet people, hang out, and play some friendly games would be awesome.
