HaKyung: -intro- Today these players meet again, Larva and Jangbi! Hakyung: Yes please introduce yourself Larva! Larva: Yes, I'm Larva, thank you to all the fans for coming out today. HaKyung: Yes, you played Jangbi during the Ro32, how do you feel about playing him now? Larva: Well, we played for the winner's match, I believe, it was a good feeling HaKyung: Well, as in feels good, do you mean it was easy? Larva: Yes... HaKyung: How do you feel about beating the "Last Protoss", the legendary Jangbi. (T/N: Referring to Jangbi being the last Protoss to dominate the OSL) Larva: I'll try my best to beat Jangbi HaKyung: If you win, you think you'll celebrate this time around? Larva: No, I think I'll get beat afterwards, I'll just play my best. HaKyung: Did you two talk in the back before the interview?" Larva: No, as soon as we were about to start talking, he looked like he was about to hit me HaKyung: Yes, I'll enjoy your games very much, thank you! Here's Jangbi everyone! Jangbi: Yes, I'm Jangbi. HaKyung: Your class is legendary, the last Protoss. how do you feel about that? Jangbi: First, I never actually tried to hit Larva. He seems very confident in front of the camera now, doesn't he? Well I came today with confidence. I don't care if larva sees me as easy or bad, but I'll get my games played. HaKyung: Do you see this as another chance that the heavens gave you for being put down into the loser's match? Jangbi: Well I dunno about that yet, but I'll try my best to see it that way HaKyung: Yes, you struggled last time you played, how well will you do this time around? Jangbi: Yes I struggled, but as long as I warm up and execute my play today, I'll do well HaKyung: Ahh, well, I believe your hands weren't warmed up during the Ro32, right? Jangbi: well... I have nothing to say about that... HaKyung: Oh well, thank you very much! -outro-
Wow, really thought Jangbi was going to hit a mental setback after the second little Zergling rush, but Jangbi kept to his own and managed to come back really well with the DT drops, great job to him.
Huge dissapointment, maybe Jangbi doesnt want to play anymore BW, having in mind he doesnt play in any other tournament. Prolly he participated in SSL for his fans, but still such games is not what we deserve.
HaKyung: -intro- This is the 2nd group D game, lets give Mini and PianO a round of applause Hakyung: Hello, Piano, say hello to the fans please Piano: Yes, I'm the first to advance from group B in the Ro32, I'm PianO. HaKyung: Yes, you have done well in the Proleague thus far, you're considered to be the rising star of Terrans, how do you feel? Piano: Well, everyone's good, so I'll just try my best. HaKyung: You're facing off an opponent against someone you played in SK Planet Proleague in Mini, how do you feel about that? Piano: Yes, we actually played each other on my birthday when I was in the army, but yes... I'll hopefully win today like I did back then. HaKyung: Yes, your mother watched your games during the Ro32 and was very proud of you. I hope your mom watches these games today and it works out well Piano: Yes, she's watching from her shop. HaKyung: Good luck, Piano! here's Mini! Mini: Hi, I'm Protoss player, Mini. HaKyung: How do you feel about Piano? Mini: well, Piano's a very picky Terran, and I usually do well in offline events than online, so I think he better feel nervous HaKyung: How do you feel about Bisu's play compared to your's? Mini: Well... I'm definitely not confident versus Bisu hyung's play, but I''ll try my best to keep up HaKyung: Any last words for your games with Piano? Mini: yeah, I'll try my best to beat Piano hyung and move on HaKyung: -outro-
Larva deserved to lose this one. Two spore colonies could've saved him a lot of trouble, but he chose to fend off the harassment with units that should've been on the battle field every single time.
HaKyung: Yes, this is Mini, our first Group D Ro8 advanced player! Mini: Yes, I feel great that I advanced, and I'll be sure to show a better form then HaKyung: You showed very strong play against Piano and then very creative play against Larva. How do you feel about your games? Mini: I think I do pretty well in these offline events, so I had some confidence going into these games. HaKyung: You seem to have found some newfound confidence, how do you think you'll fare in Ro8? Mini: Well, I was hoping I could make it this far since the start of the tournament, but now my goal is to try and get into the Ro4 HaKyung: Good luck, congratulations with moving on, and thank you for the interview!
it's a real shame that Jangbi is out but his form just isn't there for the most part. But in his final game we saw a glimpse of what use to be (and what could have been)

He was way behind. Piano was on equal bases and set up some contain in Jangbi's third. Jangbi used lots of units to clear them up and afterwards Jangbi was facing an uphill battle really. Like 4 bases vs 5 bases from Piano.
edit: they are horizontally on circuit breaker, very easy for terran to set up contain/push. Didnt help that jangbi expanded towards terran.

Because Protoss is a bad race and Bisu will lose next round.
much truth, but I'd still like a recap.
Yeah, he was actually just already behind. Piano spawned in top left, and Jangbi spawned top right. Piano basically pushed along the path he would expand along 12 o'clock, and managed to kill of Jangbi's mineral only and kept harassing his other expo. Basically, the crazy storms occurred when Jangbi was already behind but he managed to kill off most of Piano's army in an engagement around the middle of the map.
But Piano was already too far ahead, and Jangbi had no more money, and Piano just remade an army and moved back across the map, and won.

Yeah, on top of that piano started 14 cc and barely got punished. Jangbi lacked a lot of map awareness/control. With that level of micro though it's not hard to foresee him coming at the top again.

I don't know why, and I have no evidence to back this up but I get the feeling that Jangbi isn't going to be participating in anything else after this run. I hope I'm flat out wrong though.
Ahh, nice day of events and I actually managed to stay up and watch it thanks to no classes later today...
Dunno the format, but it's probably going to be Bo5 with two series played each day. JohnChoi will probably find out later, or we can always find out on game day.

The Quarterfinals and Semifinals are probably Bo5, while the Finals are a Bo7. Not 100% sure, but that's probably how it's gonna work out. Sonic didn't say anything about the format during the cast.

Why? Hero, Movie and Mini all have a very good chance of advancing, and they could all pose a threat to Bisu.
Even as someone who said mini would advance into the ro8, I'd say only hero has a significant chance of stopping Bisu, and only Movie will advance out of the 3.

Hmm. I mentioned Movie and Mini because PvP can be a very unstable affair. But are you that confident in Kwanro's ZvP as to think that he'll eliminate Mini? I wouldn't rate it higher than Larva's.
I also see Hero as Bisu's biggest threat, so I'll be rooting heavily for Mong in the Ro8.

Unstable? Perhaps. A bo5 kind of negates it, however.
kwanro mini is going to be the best PvZ of all time. ALL TIME. ahead of snow vs jaedong series or whatever ever comes to mind
you just know it's going to be some crazy ling all-in vs probe micro -> hydra bust attempt followup where more crazy probe defense -> barely stabilize with reaver -> dope as fuck harass with reaver -> meanwhile ultraling gets secured and kwanro pumps a million units -> some 3 shuttles flying around the map with dt, ht, and reavers -> oh man suddenly some dark archon shit going to be pulled out for maelstrom -> maelstrom some overlord drop incoming with ultras and cleans it all up with storm
then rinse and repeat since both those guys are fucking crazy
Players KNOW what is coming and can't stop it. See: Kwanro's SSL Groups, everyother Kwanro game
He is a really damn good player, up till when he has to play the best, who are good enough to generally handle his style and then he is too predictable and not good enough in lategame to win. In other words, excellent PL player but not someone I would peg to win a League. I'm curious to see if Mini is up to handling what Kwanro throws, but my bets are
Hero < Mong hiyA > Movie Bisu > Larva Mini > Kwanro
Mong over hero because Mong looks quite good right now, and hero just hasn't show the same ability in ZvT as his stellar ZvP.
HiyA/Movie I'm like 52:48 type confident on. Movie seemed okay last group but not spectacular, and both guys can be a little unorthodox but are both very solid in the respective matchup.
Bisu v Larva doesn't need an explanation. Bisu has much better PvZ than the rest, and Larva wasn't even up to the task of handling Mini (who admittedly played well)
Mini v Kwanro I think will go to Mini, but perhaps in a close series if Kwanro proves tricky. Mini is the more well rounded player and very sound mechanically but we'll have to see how well he defends aggro lair zerg.
Ah Jangbi! He just didn't notice that first push until it was seige'd up Best storms ever again though so I believed in him for the last 10 minutes of the game which is why he is my favourite player to watch.
