The persistence and tenacity to continue to challenge yourself in an environment in which you are doomed to failure are traits much to be desired. People with those kinds of personalities go further in life than those who feed as a big fish in a little pond. Its pointless if the outcome is certain defeat. That isn't a challenge, its self-destruction. Its a matter of setting realistic goals and training in an appropriate environment. I agree that progressive resistance is important, but the key word is progressive. Evidently he's not cut out to play on a private competitive ladder yet, so he would be better off training on a public server with less skilled players until he develops the necessary fundamentals. Lets say my longterm goal is to eventually be the #1 player in the world. It would be an exercise in futility to simply pack up, move to Korea, and fail in every Courage tournament if I'm not even an accomplished foreigner. I'm not ready for Courage, hence I won't play Courage. At the same time, as you pointed out, its equally counter-productive to simply join public 1v1 on East Server with a 90% win percentage. Its a matter of moderation and appropriate progression. I agree that persistence and tenacity are admirable traits, but they can be taken to an extreme too, like in that player's case, where its simply stubborn, misdirected, and unproductive training.

http://www.pgtour.net/profile.php?a=view&id=16698 He's got a really high win ratio right now >< We've seen him in previous seasons too at A+ rank.

I remember seeing him as 400-400 A+ in season 2. A few seasons later he had up'd it to about 65% win ratio. And so on.
