On Destination, I opened with 12 hatch, 11 pool. It was actually 12 hatch 12 pool b/c I screwed up slightly, but before I can do anything he pours into my expo with 3 marines and 2 SCVs quickly backed up by 2 more marines, and then even more marines. My lings hadn't even started at this point. Turns out he had done a BBS proxy rush. I feel like there is nothing I could have done in this situation other than go 9 pool. I think even if I had managed to get lings out faster I would have died, esp considering he could have bunkered me easily. So if I get caught in this situation is there anything I can do or does his build order just pwn me and I should ALT+QQ?

Destination is a bitch because protoss and terran proxy wherever they feel like.

You could leave with an early scout, say 9 drone and see if anything fishy is up in his main (late depot?, no pylon, low worker count). You can also 12 pool which might not win but will let you expo safer. It's pretty easy to stop zergling rushes on destination anyway, since you can do tight wall-ins.

Or like i said scout and prepare a drone defence to buy time for you lings...

I almost always 9 drone scout, just to get a better idea of where the game is going.

Watching your rep, your initial build is really messy. It'll be a lot easier to hold off any cheese with a tight build. For instance, you didn't start your overlord until 152 minerals, and once your overlord was done, you waited several seconds to start drones. When you reached 300 minerals, you didn't have a drone at your nat to start a hatchery, and only started it at 401 minerals. You already mentioned mistakenly adding another drone before the pool. These things add up.

The second thing is, scout more effectively. The latest time that pros scout with a drone is shortly after the overlord is done, and sometimes I even see pros 9 drone scout. 9 drone scouting will let you know that there's nothing in his base around the time you started your hatchery, at which point switching to a 12pool doesn't put you too far behind. Also, sending your overlord straight down is pretty useless and I think risks it getting sniped by a marine--use a more effective overlord scouting plan like Jaedong uses in this game:
. Note that Jaedong's overlord would have spotted the proxy around the time his second overlord is done, just the right time to place an 11pool or 12pool.

Like others have said 9 scouting is good. Also sending your ovie not directly to their base helps a ton.

Or I guess you could just always 9 pool!

Yep I agree, drone scout at 9 is the way to play today - the economical fail is totally worth it to not get crushed in the early game. Early pool is also a viable build, specially in ZvP, but I would scout with a drone anyways.

Especially on Destination (and many other 2players maps) i would recommend to go 12pool or overpool instead of 12hatch. It is something common that terran, once he won't proxy, will scout early to block your fast expo. Furthermore you will delay the terran's fast expansion with your early pool.

Tighten up your build.
9 drone scout.
Send Overlord to the cliffed second natural and then to his main.
Send second Overlord to your natural to see if he's putting up a bunker/getting rines.

If you scout that he doesn't have a rax in his main (either because your 9 drone doesn't see one or because your overlord does), hotkey 8 drones and send them out by using a mineral patch that your Overlord sees when his SCV moves in, even before he starts the bunker. Try to kill the bunker with your drones, but if marines come then you have to keep them away from the bunker. Once your 8 lings pop you're safe.

Bad solution, and even worse advice. If you know how to prepare for a cheese, then you'll gain an easy win (except in TvP where toss can still be in game after sending the first probe -_-).

9 drone scout is totally worth it in 2 player maps, on both Destination and Heartbreak Ridge because there are so many cheeses.

Don't forget to watch for proxy rax followed by depot block.

And optimize (I never heard of tighten; you build.
Stuck.

Send your first ovie towards the base that leads to the mineral only. then send it near the terrans bridge behind his main, so you can suicide the ovie later if hes meching. Send the second one just below your mineral line to scout the base behind your main and the cliff below your mineral line for proxy buildings that may lift into your base..

Then scout at 9, and head for his mineral line, if it has few scvs, then he did proxy, if he has a good number of scvs, his barracks are probably hidden somewhere inside his main, most likely the spot closest to your main, to float it.

If you failed to respond early enough, get a single well placed creep at your main, an extractor, cancel your expansion at the very last second and try to get your first lings out towards his base, otherwise, just mass speedlings and try to break out.

thats not what i meant. if the cheese annoys him he should play 2+ player maps because then cheese becomes less viable

Read about defending Bunkers. Nothing has changed in the 5 years Zergs have been defending BBS with 12 Hatch.

Just outplay them with drone micro. This is the best advice.

I see a lot of zergs open with like a earlier pool on this map. Due to situations like this and also getting their nat blocked by that annoying probe, scv, or drone. I see most open overpool or so on desti into a 2 hat play vs terran.

BBS is just like a zealot rush or a 4 pool. Its easier to execute than stop at lower levels. Once you stop a BBS, unless you lost more than 6 drones you should be way ahead. get someone to do this to you 50x in a row. At the end of you 50x you will be able to stop it. just pull workers and try to stop the bunker*. If he manages to get or almost get up a bunker, just kill incoming marines while you build lings. Once your lings are out just attack with all lings and the drones you were using before. then run the lings back to his base**.

* If you see a BBS dont be afraid to pull 80% of your drones.)
** I would recommend 2 hatch muta unless he takes a really fast expo.(If he goes fast expo i would just 3 hatch ling his ass while i got mutas out.)

Edit: Lol I meant 4 out of 5.... like 8 out of 10 or 12 out of 15. Ill try and reword it
Whatever happens, happens.

vs a BBS 4/5 drones is too little, I think 8/9 is optimal.
