Here's the general build; keep in mind that it's somewhat map-dependant: On October 18 2008 10:13 Day[9] wrote: 1) Wall in and gas on 12 2) Build a factory ASAP 3) When factory finishes, build the addon and begin a starport 4) When the factory addon finishes, begin producing vultures (up to 4) and upgrading mines+speed 5) When you can, get a CC at your expansion and start producing a dropship, get an armory for +1 attack upgrade, and try to sneak vultures in the front. Be sure to lay mines in front of zerg’s main if you can’t get in. 6) Add on a 2nd factory, drop harass w/ vultures + mines, build 1 valkyrie and start goliath-ing, your expo should be done by now. One thing is that you should build the first vulture before the addon; you'll still get mines in time to stop any allin hydras, you'll be much safer from zergling breakins, and you'll be able to force the Zerg to turtle up a bit earlier. | ||

Does anyone know of a generic BO opening for TvZ mech (the common style with gols/tanks and I guess vults - not valks or drops or anything like that). I realize this is really dependent on maps (because some can support ling proof walls, others not etc.), what the zerg is doing, and would need to be modified in situations, but I am just looking to have some generic BO to survive early game and get an expansion up that I can practice. I watch the youtube pro-replays and I can't figure out BO's from them because the supply numbers are too blurry and the perspective keeps bouncing all over the place. The more detail the better as I am a really new player who is still learning some basics so often even the obvious needs to be pointed out to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If someone happens to have a replay floating around that would be awesome as well. | ||

As a zerg player i can say that mech builds are way more effective and annoying if the terran has a good vulture usage. Vultures may not be as effective in big battles, but they are just as effective at killing drones as they are probes, and mine fields can be just as powerful as vs P. Most zergs are good at taking 20 more expos with basic defenses, but are not prepared for a vutlure harass like in TvP. | ||

In general I have had a hard time finding BO's in the strategy forums and tend to stumble across them by accident in threads, and its not due to lack of search/reading effort on my part. Either I am missing something or I am looking in the wrong place. | ||
