Savior that game, had very little lings and a shitload of muta. In a pure muta/goliath fight, its 55-45 in favor of mutas, but boxer pulled off some tricky ass difficult micro there, not many people can do.

sAviOr I think played that riskily. He wanted to end the game there, so he committed to all-out battle.
YellOw vs BoxeR is a better example of muta vs goli. It's from Superfight 1; YellOw doesn't actually engage in huge battles, he just goes around and kills random scvs, turrets, depots, outlier goliaths, all the while expanding to every gas multi.
BoxeR wanders around trying to defend everywhere, but because golis are so slow and ungainly, he can't. Eventually YellOw just gets critical mutalisk mass, adds in a few queens, and goes all in to infest -_-;
incidentally, muta/queen is quite good. It's one less mutalisk per queen, but ensnare is good, and infest means you only have to do half as much damage to a cc to kill it.

This is why I play Z against those moronic people in my school who think massing Tank + Goliath > all

Early goliaths is easily beaten because you can get 12 or so ling with your initial muta force and kill 10-15 gols. If the terran fast expoed into goliath and you didn't kill him you better scramble to out-expo him or you are going to get hit hard. And as a side note, goliaths with the range upgrade can kill mutalisks if there are like 5-10 more gols than mutas. Watch out for bat/medic/goliath, that shit will kick your ass.

bat medic goliath? lol.
edit: goliath OWN muta.. small numbers no, larger numbers (whats important) yes.

you've certainly have not played very much this game. Muta > Goliath. and if you get large numbers, then you can leave the base without risking it to be obliterated.
mobility > goliaths

If you scout bat/med/gol if then just make a few lurkers..

Mutalisks and hydralisks only. Muta ling can work but meh. Either mutas + all expands. Or Muta + hydralisk. It is very efficient and you can kill a terran with almost equal minerals with it. (Muta hydra)
I say almost because there is a point once terran gets a certain number of tanks that you will go more heavily into mutas and you will need a lot more minerals.
They won't have gas for anything else on most maps, as most mech users only have their natural. So too many tanks = muta death. Too few tanks = muta + hydra death.

I have played a lot of this game. I like to fast expand with 2 armories and pump goliaths, mixing in tanks if they heavy hydra/lurker. I do not lose to mutalisks, or their mobility.

thx a bunch guys!
one more question, on maps where the mineral only can be easily taken (LT, Longinus, etc) , i have big troubles outexpo the terran as a 3 base terran can max 200/200 really quick, and the maps make harrasing difficult as he doesn't really need mobility just sitting at home. do i just leave him alone and focus on macro or is there some harrassing techniques against a defensive guy? the big puch of the first 40 golies usually take me out..>.<
|
and yea i'm not used to this match up, against regular terran play i'm at least 5 times better, (1000 times more experienced? lol) thx for all the tips

My idea, don't u dare steal it

If somebody beats mech T with GI's advice in the Zv7T thread (Devourer + Queen + Overlord), I will laugh.
At the T player, that is.

harass, if u dont do so, ull be forced into late game macro!
Now, its easier to macro from 2 bases than those 5 bases u getting =P.
Get the mayor ammount of geysers. Try harassing all the time, he wont have the mobility of the marines.
Do it till u get muta/ling or hydras upgrades. You can also lurk tech while muta/ling just for some drops, not something like getting 10 lurkers and going to the front.
MECH UNITS are very strong, so you must realize that if u let him do whatever he wants, he will end up beating you.
Mech units can also mean some valkyries (rarely used but very effective) so you better scout his ass all the time.
Ensare and Plague will rule his ass.
Yes, you have to break your ass to beat the mecha. But you have to break your ass to beat marines and medics so ... its just like another MU you have to add =P
