So on this gladiator map, I was having a ZvZ and spawned bottom left. I put my spawning pool between gas and minerals, as zergs do, but I had serious pathing issues for the rest of the game. Is this just me?
but really, has anyone REALLY been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Can you post a screenshot to show exactly where you mean? Do you mean mineral mining issues? gas mining? or sending units out?

That's your Pool blocking the direct path from the Hatch to the ramp – and BW pathfinding being inefficient at resolving issues like that.

That's a bummer It's usually pretty helpful in ZvZ to block that space, and I've never had this issue before. Oh well

Had you used the Larva trick before? Normally Larvae would spawn on the right-hand side of the Hatch there and I think pathfinding should be fine for units spawning from there.

No, it even affected units spawned on the right side of the hatchery- of 6 zerglings, 4 of them got "caught".

Alternatively you can also place it one tile up, leaving a gap between the minerals and Pool. This only causes a very minor rallying delay when units bump into the Pool first before passing through the gap, but gives you better options for Sunken placement in a ZvZ in my opinion.

1 gate expand, keep making goons
2nd gateway after nex
robo
ribo
obs after shuttle + river

You can have anything as 1 goon nex to 3-4 goon nex. I dont write supply as obviously if you see rax expand / siege expand you can skip some goons for faster nex / ribo, or if you see 4++ marine you want to make up to 4 goons asap.

here's one i ripped from a bisu vod (vs mines expand iirc)
it delays 4th goon for faster robo. there's a short probe cut around 30ish supply

2 Base Reaver
8 pylon
10 gate
11 gas
13 core (scout)
15 pylon
16 goon
19 range (1 off gas)
21 goon
24 pylon
25 goon
29 nex (back on gas)
30 robo
30 goon
32 pylon
33 gate
34 goon
37 shuttle (transfer probes)
@40% shuttle bay
reaver (start 2 zealots if you don't have them already)
shuttle speed
@50% reaver observatory
take 3rd when reaver is out (~7min, cut units if T is not pushing)

6:45 shuttle, reaver out
7:15 hits T

Whats a more powerful timing overall in pvz, 1 gate tech into a zealot/reaver/corsair push, or just straight pump to a goon/reaver push on one base? My inclination would be to say the latter, as im not very familiar with the former.

Yes, but timing of 2nd gate and nex you have to base on what you scout, if there are any indication of early aggresion etc.

Going 1 base PvZ, you're really crippling yourself. Are you talking about pvp?
If you do mean PvZ, you'd really have to have zealots as your main composition with some kind of support (templar, reaver, etc.) if you're 1 basing it, just because of gas restraints. Without a 2 gate opening, you're gonna have to make each zealot count (& be kinda lucky) if you try to apply pressure. I'm not gonna say 1 base PvZ is terrible or impossible, but it puts a lot more of the work on you than on your opponent. There are easier options for having a map presence/threat in the early/mid game as a 2 base P.

Bonyth used a lot of 1 base goon/reaver when he was active, and he has some reppacks uploaded on TL if you are interested
