EPT11 drones is solid enough to do a 2nd hatch and have similar economy to a 12hatch, but without the time wasted on the lord.
This just seems like a cool idea, And I've never seen it done. What do you guys think of it?

As far as i can tell, it is a legitimate build, probably not bad if you are planning on alot of lings or a 9drone scout, but its certainly not anything special. Timing stuff like this is very hard and time consuming, and I didn't measure alot of factors, but this seems to be my conclusion. I'll probably still do it occasionally, makes me feel like a pro | ||

edit: To describe better, I usually scout with my 9th drone, so what I tried was send out 9th drone to scout, and on the way, double extractor trick into 11hatch... etc. It's just not as good as a normal 12hatch. | ||

I don't think gas trick is ever useful except with 4/5pool, you lose 12.5 minerals by canceling + any minerals you would've gotten with the drone had it not done the gas trick. How much mining time roughly in seconds does it cost you and how much mining time do you gain? It shouldn't be that hard to get a theoretical answer, you're looking at around 64 minerals per minute at that stage per worker. | ||

A) you need to save up 200 minerals to do it. B) you lose a bunch of mining time C) you can probably make an overlord in the time it takes to save up 200. btw, I used to do this on bloodbath 10 years ago. I'd 7pool, and max out my drones. Right before pool finished I would make a colony and a gas. Make 2 sets of lings and then cancel both. | ||
