So I was mass gaming against this B-rank toss...
I can think of good reasons why I lost this. My ebay got shot down when I could have used another turret. I should have been getting a faster armory, goliaths would have helped. Not sure why I didn't think of a starport at the time.
My plan after scouting the proxy (and because he'd proxied gates or robo every previous game) was to get some facs (2 or 3 more), survive his harass, and then push out after he takes his natural (note the scv chilling behind his mineral line).
My question is: Is a timing push viable as a counter to 1base reaver? What's the right strategy to play when you suspect a reaver is coming? I feel like getting a starport and wraith better lends itself to drop harass and 3-base play, and I prefer to be aggressive if I have the opportunity.
Maybe if I'd gotten the armory up sooner with goliath a push would be feasible?
Here's the replay:
Thanks.

I am a Protoss player and when I get a reaver and do 1 base play, I find countering drops pretty difficult if u get a starport or wraiths. Other than that just have faster eBay timings and better defense so the shuttle can't do any damage. Terran relies on camping and static defenses to win. Learn that

If it's truly 1-base reaver, than you can kind of be a turtle on two bases. Protoss needs to have more nexuses than you have CC's before you need to attack. If he stays on one base only, there is no need to do anything except turtle / defend / macro.
However, a common follow up to 1-base reaver is to double expand into 3 nexus (total). This opens a very vulnerable timing window for terran to push off of 2 base. This can be achieved with 3 fac, or possibly even 2 fac with marines remaining from an FD build.
If the protoss is more conservative and only takes his natural off of 1 base-reaver, you are still not really obligated to attack, but you can if you kill the reavers and do a factory heavy build. The other option is to expand (conservatively) off 3/4 fac into 3cc while harassing and warding off the shuttle...
Obviously, if you can kill the shuttle and/or reaver, this will be a huge advantage for anything you decide to do. Use Fkeys between CC's and try not to have your scvs in transfer too much if you can help it; better to loose a few scvs and maintain your build order than to have all 30-40 of them running around.

Wow. You had a really strange build. What rank are you?
You didn't get siege mode. Your turret positioning wasn't exactly great. You made a marine before factory. You either choose marine or depot, not both or your factory will be late. You always get siege mode at the correct timing. He abused your front door because you didn't have siege mode. 1 Sieged Tank + 1 turret = scared shuttle.
If a protoss 1 gate goon no range fast reaver, you should FD into port before CC and force him to defend. GG with probe kills.
A general note: 1 fact CC into port > reaver, unless he proxies it outside your base and skip range. Then you should get port and wraith first and micro!
It transitions into 3 fact harass perfectly or flash style because of early port.

You might have to make a slight tank cut if you choose to siege expo into port to get that wraith in time. I prefer an FD opening unless the toss 2 gates.

B- toss who likes reavers
bottom line: if you defend a 1base reaver (with minimal injuries), you are ahead.
If you suspect reaver, just make sure to build turrets and expand after their first push/reaver drop. Also, depending on the timing of the reaver, they may not have obs in which case vult harass can be very annoying.
make sure u use F keys so you can properly maynard your scvs.

wreitlands are the hard counter to rivers but the best think a terran player can do vs a fast tech from protoss is a sige expand with early turrets
