so I got the digital copy of starcraft and broodwar from the blizzard website last week. it worked fine. today i tried to log on and got the usual new patch message. I clicked ok and auto dowloaded it. When the game tried to apply the patch, I got this error

"patching cannot be completed because the patch archive is corrupt"

told me try reinstalling the game. I did that and then I got this error.

"the patch could not be applied because it could not match the file checksum"

:S

so i went on again and then got the same "patch archive is corrupt error"

i was hoping someone else who has previously experienced this or knows how to fix it can tell me how.

I wasn't sure if this goes in the broodwar or general section. sorry and thanks.

may sound crazy, but try updating it with chaoslauncher on

Maybe Blizz just screwed up? Try patching manually once the patch exe is available.

Yeah, it may sound crazy but it was the only thing that worked for me when the last patch failed.
I also use the blizz-account SC, I tried everything else last time and that was the only thing that worked.

I'm not going to update until I need to this time.

I updated my SC to 1.16 with chaoslauncher successfully. But, now I HAVE to use chaoslauncher to bnet. If I don't, I will get a message saying it couldn't validate my game version.

LOL i had that error too, but using chaos i successfully updated and now i have the same problem. owell now ill always have apm counter, timer, and lan latency by my side

thanks for the chaos launcher tip guys. I tried that and the game began updating. only to be screwed by a checksum error with staredit.

then tells me to reinstall which I already tried. I'm honestly starting to feel like the $15 digital copy was too good to be true and a rip off.

I give up, at least for today.

Patch trough battle.net fails -> Staredit checksum error
Patch from 1.15.2 to 1.15.3 fails -> Staredit checksum error (Blizzard Store copy of Starcraft is on 1.15.2)

I got Staredit from someone with the 1.15.3 patch, still fails.

i'm guessing this is because of the digital copy we have. if i knew that it would give me this much trouble, i would have never bought the damn thing.

have you tried the blizzard tech support yet? maybe they got a solution? :S

Ugh. I have the same thing but it just doesnt do anything AT ALL. Just closes down bw and no message or anything.

Last time I fixed this with a 3d party updating prog someone made, but I have no idea where I found it.

I had this problem when patching the digital DL copy of Starcraft to 1.15.3.

I found a 3rd party patch that successfully patched the game.

I will update if the patch works correctly.

EDIT: Patch didn't work.
