I read in some other post that Boxer uses the keyboard arrows to scroll instead of the mouse. Is this true, and furthermore, how would you make this work? Would you do it with your keyboard hand while your other is at the mouse? What benefits does this give? Would you also need to be insanely fast on the keyboard to do this quickly?

this is true, one thing that keeps my mind spinning is that I accually saw nada do this to in a "About Starcraft" vod.

I use keyboard keys (essential for vult micro). No it's not l33t, it's normal, very easy to get used to. Terran only.

I've always used keyboard arrow keys in conjunction to the hotkeys and shortcut keys.. like since i started playing.. it just helps because u can move the screen to the left a tiny bit during micro while ur mouse is busy clicking and slecting units. i usually use them during micro.. actualyl i dont think i use them any other time hehe.. just during micro..

I saw Boxer do it in an about life VOD. He was doing it in his practice games. I don't remember seeing him do it in actual match VODS though. At any rate that takes incredible coordination.

i dunno why u guys say that.. it makes it EASIER to play.. i know a lot of people that use arrow keys.. its no 'secret' or 'gosu' thing or anything..

which hand you use for that? I mean some people even let go of the mouse to move with keys no? or to produce troops from hotkeyed buildings... I think that's sick

The mouse is the second closest thing to my hand when i'm playing, i'd never let go of it :D

i use my left hand.. i move my left hand back and forth real quick between the arrow keys and the 'hotkey' position (upper left of the keyboard) when im microing or doing something with units (making pylon).. i honestly don't know how i could play without the arrow keys.. in terms of skill i'd probably go down 1 rank in WGT hehe... its probably just because im so used to doing it..

The way boxer was doing it was gosu I think. His hand was going from arrow keys to the shortcut keys like once a second. He was using it very often to simply move the screen around. In fact I think it was his only means of moving the screen around.

i heard boxer uses arrow keys mostly in TvP, and he does use his left hand

I have known of this for a while, but I don't really understand the use of it. If you're managing your base using arrows, how can you build anything fast when your kb hand is on the arrows? You have to bring it back thus basically losing the time you have gained. Also in vult micro - the micro basically consists of quick and effecient mine planting, and in that case I do need my keyboard hand on the "i" button, not on the arrows.

I actually saw veg doing this quite frequently at the lan tournament trybal one time. When microing vultures or something he would switch to the arrows. I've tried doing it myself but I couldn't macro at the same time and found myself with money piling up.

?? It's not like you spend your whole time moving the arrows.. they are just there for more accurate adjustment while you micro units.. you use the arrow keys for a split second then use ur A or I button or whatever, then you go back to they arrow keys.. it's not like you are constantly going 3sd4sd5sd6sd6sd or CONSTANTLY making mines from vultures.. u always have time to go back to the arrow keys.. hehe

i dont think it will help your game because it takes too much getting used to.. i think its just something you started doing naturally then just got used to it.. because i think my mouse is just a TINY bit too sensitive.. i cant get to the exact screen position i want.. or else i have to move my mouse up then down then up, etc which take stoo long.. or i could just hit the down arrow like twice and im perfectly where i want to be.. and it takes 1 second..
