They obviously more often say it cause it's considered rude to be arrogant.
My oversimplified, extremely generalized and slightly america-mockingly interpretation is this:
Question: Who are allowed to talk like they are the best in starcraft?
Korean: The starleague champion. Non-American: Koreans. American: We talk before, after and during games, no matter the results.

Maybe because hes one of the worse representatives for the foreign scene, imagine if we had Draco or Handy over there, much more friendly and charismatic. Draco had his chance. I really can't understand all this negativity either. Just cheer for him! He was too cocky. "Oh, I should be the favorite, I'm the best foreigner obviously because I practice 12 hours and others only can get 4 hours max. I'm definitely the favorite to win the WCG USA". It was too cocky. Although he does get more practice time, he did lose in Spirit, which is totally embarrassing, as well there are several top foreigners that I bet could contest his claim. Even if he WAS, unarguably the best foreigner, you shouldn't be making arrogant statements like these. On top of the fact that he is arguably NOT the best foreigner, this is going to lead to some flames. It's not too cocky at all, it's a perfectly realistic assessment of WCG USA, and nearly every participant in the USA final agrees. Maybe, but lots of people agree with the viewpoint that I stated. I was just trying to explain why some people thought he was too cocky. I don't care if it was a realistic assessment or not, it was rude in my opinion. If you look in this thread, the WCG USA National Finals, you can see that many people put Yosh ahead of Idra, some people put Nony in front of Idra, etc. It's not right to be completely disregarding opinions of others, "I'm definitely the favorite". Ok, IdrA IS definitely the favourite to win WCG USA. This is nothing against ANY of the players competing, but simply because some people think Nony or Yosh are more likely to win doesn't make that accurate. I don't see how "disregarding their opinion" comes into it. Those people are wrong. Well, Idra is maybe very good but saying "I am definitly the best" sucks. I'm sure if you ask Jaedong if he is the best player in the world, he will start to tell you about other good players like Flash or Best. That's called humility, and I guess it's somehow necessary to become great. Imo, laking that much humility is a very, very bad start to become a champion. About being modest, or having humility, do people say it to sound good or do they really think that? just curious I think there are plenty of people out there that don't like arrogance.

dude you cannot compare idra to ALI
ALI was a champion, and he was playful cocky.
idra is just seriously cocky
IMO you only have the "right" to boast if you can back it up, idra cannot back up that he is the best foreigner at the moment, he didn't even get anywhere in the TSL when he was pinned up against the best foreigners! and even then humility makes the better champion.

I think ray speaks the truth :p Just look @ José Mourinho now Internazionale coach, he's the cockiest soccer coach i've ever seen but he can back it up : D

he's not good ;p he's a publicity stunt

Lol he's not good? He's only cocky in context of the foreigner scene, and he's definitely good there. One of the best.
He got to ro16 in TSL and ran into a very tough opponent in white-ra. If you go by that then you can say that Mondragon didn't get anywhere, either. The TSL was months ago as well.

mate if i was in cj i would so bum xellos and savior, they wud be my new best friends, i think idra should best-befriend them, u wud have the ultimate badass crew and be a king in korea, wherever you go a path made of gold would be laid before you along with a long line of hot groupies.
