192 pages for 11 bucks? Sold.

i would never, ever buy this garbage... reading the synopsis made me realize one thing: this is a lame ass story capitalizing on the fact sc2 is looming around the corner.

I really dislike how the accepted look for the Marine is becoming more and more like a bunch of inflated balloons. He looks just like the Orc when you compare the two covers.
Are the stories considered canon by Blizzard? The Ghost one sounds more appealing than this one.

I'm sure as gamers themselves, the people behind the idea of all these novels and mangas had the best intentions...
but yah, i mean you can't expect highest quality stuff when your lore people are gamers and not actual literary masters...or w/e >_>

It's been a long time, but I remember Liberty's Crusade being pretty good.
|
1st book was good. 2nd book was not so good. Still haven't read the 3rd.
|
the Warhammer 40k books were better by far, but both are fun to read.
|
It doesn't look like the drawing style is manga-ish...

I am going to put 11 bucks to good use now. I am pre-ordering it and when I get it I am keeping it in an air tight container full of helium.. lol.. that way one day my future grandson will be able to sell it to one of you nostalgic suckers to help buy himself his first car.

??? what you got against manga? and not just manga, a fucking starcraft manga!!
if anything, even if the story sucks, you should get it just because it's starcraft. moreover, i think i'd be getting my own copy to see the illustrations of the units haha
i hella wanan get the warcraft one too though, maybe even more than the starcraft. i remember long time ago i'd read the manual/booklet that came with wc3 battle chest, and read every story in it countless times. imo the storyline for warcraft is well done, and i just like seeing orcs and humans fighting with axes and swords lol

I love manga and Starcraft, that´s why i hate this lol, weird hybrid...

BUMP
Just found the manga in Chapters today and bought it obviously. I never knew it existed until now, and was just about to make a thread about it until I did one further search and replaced comic with manga which took me here. I haven't read any yet, but that's probably all I am going to be doing for the rest of the night.
Anyone else have it or read it? Please don't spoil anything though.
|
So how did you find it ?Please start reading.
|
It's pretty good so far. + Show Spoiler +I'm half done the book, I've finished the parts "Why We Fight" and "Thundergod". The art is pretty damn good and follows Starcraft well in that way. When looking through I can pick out everything drawn pretty easily. The plot is quite simple and straightforward but good nonetheless, with quite a lot of action. I am definitely going to buy Vol.2 if the other two sub-stories are as good as the first two. I would recommend it, especially even to people who aren't SC fanatics. After all, it was only $11.99 CAD for me, nothing big.

Not all of them are bad. Speed of Darkness by Tracy Hickman was actually really good. However, it is true that most are not particularly good and are only worth reading to pass the time. But even they are better reading then the pure embodiment of terrible writing that is Shadow of the Xel`Naga by the "Gabriel Mesta" duo. That novel was just so plain horrible that, for the first time in my life, I thought I personally would have done a better job writing it. While I did not read it, I hear Queen of Blades is of the same poor caliber.
The StarCraft universe has a lot of potential. It is just a shame that Blizzard insists on hiring mostly poor writers with Star Trek experience to do their novels.

Wow, i know this Hector Sevilla guy from Mexico ^^ gonna give him props for it ^^

I saw the manga a lot of times in a major bookstore in Singapore, but never attempted to buy due to the fear of the artstyle not to my liking, and having a shitty plot. So, for those who have read...
Poll: Art style to your liking? (Vote): Worth the money! (Vote): I wish I had never known about this piece of crap.
Poll: Captivating plot? (Vote): Hell yeah! (Vote): No f'ing way.

This is in the University of Queensland book shop lol, figures, there's a million koreans that go here.
