But wtf is up with so many pros retiring? Is it a popular thing to do now or what? Jy was a rookie for crying out loud. This could be fake.

Jy's been around for 2.5 years (assuming from that boxer game). I watched his games vs Nada they were pretty cool, first zerg I ever saw take all the expoes on each corner of the map and end up losing them all to dropships within less than a minute. Awesome.

Never personally saw him much on though. Well its still a shame that his team has confidence in him, and yet he still wants to retire. Wait where you get your info from? From tlpd, he only played a handful 1v1 games in R2: http://teamliquid.net/tlpd/players/350_Jy/games A lot of his games were 2v2s.

It says Jy is 2-0 in 1v1 in that proleague season. Maybe that thread is missing the finals and semifinal games. But it doesnt matter much as all players played the finals + semifinals. Savior los 1 and won 1 in the semis, Iris won in semis but lost in finals. Darkelf went 1-1 in semis, i think he lost in finals. Nbs lost a 2v2 with savior in semis. Jy and mania won the 2v2 in the semis but lost the one in the finals. 2v2 is a thing most teams don't have. So having a good 2v2 is pretty much free points during proleague (check Justin's record in 2v2 in that proleague season).

Now, seriously, some of the retirements were understandable, or arguably acceptable, but WHY Jy? He wasn't even performing BAD, he wasn't even too OLD, he wasn't even DITCHED by his team, seriously, WHY? ![]() ![]() ![]() This sucks major royal balls, I hope there are no more coming up...I mean, I'd contemplate suicide if Nal_rA announced his retirement anytime soon...or Reach...JUST NO.

Apparently, it's a school-related thing. He wants to pursue a phys ed related field and turned in his pro gamer license. Also, 2 other players from their B-team turned in their license as well: Ever)Z(Maru and By.Probe They also wanted to pursue their academic career rather than play starcraft. An article is up on the CJ Entus website (www.cjentus.com)

Personally, I became a true fan of Jy after this: He surged out with ultra-eco ZvP when everyone thought Bisu killed eco ZvP. Jy please RETURN. Someone post this thread's link on korean forums, he might not react, but he must at least know he has such a loyal fanbase.

I decided not to add those because it would be unfair to the teams and players that weren't involved in the playoffs. That said, I really dislike this. I said it with GGPlay, and it's just gotten worse. Jy was on the way up, while GGPlay is on his way down. It's really not a nice trade, but perhaps the GGPlay trade makes a bit more sense now.

with sc2 and other (better) players coming maybe the current progamers cant play as good as they could in bw. so its better to retire now and learn something with which they an live instead of having nothing when sc2 is out...

Aww, boo hoo. That large font must've been rough for you. It's not all that suprising , a player like Jy on a team like CJ would not be paid very well at all. It makes sense for his future to go back to school.

What if Jy/Mania won against the Lecaf team? What if Bisu never 3-0ed Savior? What if I was born in Korea? In light of all these retirements, I've decided to stop being so selfish and just accept the progamers' choices of wanting futures with more opportunities for themselves.

ofc the industry itself will not halt, it will increase with a new game which most of todays bw players are waiting for and thats the point why bw will die in 1-2 years. woyn you said it yourself ... "pursue another route in life before its too late to do so" in getting a job 2 years of your age can be deciding. if you introduce yourself like this: "i was progamer until my game died" in comparison to "i quited the progaming scene because i knew it has no future for me" who would you prefer to employ if you could decide? at least in germany its very hard to get a job if you say (indirectly) that you havent learned anything before...

SC2 will be a different game just like WC3. It will have the same effect as WC3 did on SC progaming. It is also possible that SC2 will be a faliure forgotten quickly. Just look at it's graphics... -____-
