Winning is about self confidence. Shuttle has that big brother vibe going for him. Personally, I think anything 1-10 was super high cerebral, 10-19 was dumber by the minute like SC2, but I like 10-19 better. However on single matchups, I think somewhere around 1-10 were best, I forgot which seasons had the most arbiter stasis pushes I find best. Why were seasons 1-10 more cerebral than what came after? It was pretty easy to follow the action during the second part. I guarantee you you couldn't guess it in 1-10 like you could in 10-19. I disagree with 1-10 being more cerebral. 10-19 are much more refined with smaller marging for error. 1-10 was berserk. 10-19 was refined, but in a noninteresting way SC2 is. Maybe I'm overly nostalgic. I still have a predisposition to PvT. 10-19 feels more TvZ favoured. Good, but not like PvT wild. I really disagree with that. Season 10+ was better to me in every aspect except maybe some maps being way too unbalanced. And perhaps the enforcement of less bases, less minerals at some expansions did force games to generally be a bit shorter, which also resulted in more semi-all-in timings. I think if they reduce the size of the map pool back to 5, and take out some obvious weird maps, that the competition will feel both maximum refined and berserk. Just to concur: do you think more bases and more minerals are what made 1-10 seasons PvT festivities? We might have stumbled upon some brilliant idea.
It has by design become more difficult to expand to a 4th base/3rd gas for terran.

It has by design become more difficult to expand to a 4th base/3rd gas for terran. Yet, I've never heard it the same for protoss. If anything smaller maps are told to be favoured for timing attacks vs zerg. Is it the opposite for PvT - the bigger the better? I wonder...

Season 6 Finals are the best, but IDK about the rest. A lot of seasons have good stuff happening in them.

For me nothing beats ASL19. Soulkey vs snow, Soulkey vs best, Best vs light, Best vs queen was all absolute peak starcraft. Soulkey vs SnOw on dominator was the most brainy cutthroat game ever.
All of these sets were brilliant, specifically Best's comebacks vs Queen and Light were top tier story telling. Whoever wrote the script was cooking.

In 15, JYJ really delivered, yet I like scrappy games on both sides. Each tettering on breaking new meta and scrapping years of it at the same time. I think Royal did it better. That is why I like ASL 18 finals better than 19. However there weren't any good arbiter play from the protoss players, so any pre 10 is better overall. Games should not feel scripted I mean.

the season JyJ won his semi set was really good, but it was just that semi set that was really good(and the ro8 set). asl19 had 4 amazing sets. we never before had 4 amazing sets of top top top starcraft in a single round of 8 before. ASL14 did have amazing Royal vs Soulkey and Rush vs HerO but that Ro8 only had 2 great sets. Soulkey winning ASL16 had two amazing soulkey vs JyJ and Soulkey vs Rush sets, but again, that is only two amazing sets. Season 15 had Soulkey vs JyJ and HerO vs JyJ with two amazing sets, but again that is only two great sets. Season 19 had 4 amazing sets! Unheard of!

Season 19 had a ton of incredible games as pointed out above.
Larva vs Mini in season 11 was my favourite grand finals, closely followed by Effort vs Flash in season 6.
However, I can't think of anything more exciting and hype than Flash randoming in the ASL in season 10 so that's probably my favourite.

While True Season 19 had many closed series. Protoss could have won most of them with early 4-2 in most of cases if it wasnt for Blunders. It comes to mind also that Snow trolled his last game vs Soulkey with that canon Rush. From all the SK seasons that he won i think Season 19 was the one that he was the most vulnerable.

The best season will be in the future))

ASL 19 and 20 just coasted on the wind of soulkey's previous runs. I cannot for the life of me tell who was the supposed equal opponent. By comparison, anything 12-15 was genuinely more exciting. You tended to the same coccoon that hatched into the next successive zerg era. You could see the potential that was there in Soulkey. There was no slop, or miscalculation, but the wins highlight the losses for me. That is why I like that era.

Season 2
It had the comeback of a lot of the old players. TBLS all playing really well, Jaedong vs Flash semifinals. Players like Effort, Rain, Best and Sea at a high level too Good maps all around Hype in the audience was at its peak
Other great seasons that come to mind are season 6, 9, 14 and 19. Season 4 was pretty good too.

7 because of NaDa.
Other great ones: 2 -> everyone returning, 6 -> effOrt, 10 -> Flash on random was fun, 19 and 20 -> insane RO4 matches and the 4peat was crazy plus BeSt finally getting places, also Roaring Currents was a super fun map to watch.
