i love how every gaming community think they have the most toxic players, and that the fault somehow lies in the company hosting the game. csgo/league tried to implement a bunch of stuff, but it doesn't do anything. bw if anything has a less toxic community due to the avg age being higher.

a problem that can be fixed though is the amount of tr8 stutter games combined with drop / map hackers. The ladder rather gives me a tr8 lag game after 4 seconds of queuing up a game than waiting a bit to give me a playable game. In shield battery, i have faith.

Yeah allowing hack users to stay on top of ladder for months on end is bottom of the barrel stuff.

I think there is a difference between "trying to implement a bunch of stuff" and fostering a positive environment.

I think a lot of efforts are just to show something is being done in w/e community.

mmm, toxicity has been a problem for sure. Though it comes mainly because you can do it behind the safety of your computerscreen, or at least it allows it to be done with a safer attitude. At one point even the victims become toxic and so the cycles continues...

Either way. it doesnt really matter that much in comparison with other situations. At least you can somewhat escape, you can go to an other gateway/server, you can change the game/ lobby, you can change chat channel, you can make a new id, you can dnd, you can even make an totally new account and be somewhat untraceable, relativly easy too, in a way this kind of toxicity is less personal and as such you can escape it easier.

In contrast to Shieldbattery, where it is a much smaller community, one chat, more toxic people and more elitist too, some to a certain degree with a certain claim, others not so much.
Even funnier to think, that there are certain people there bashing publicly on other people, for no other reason other than the thought of being better. Sometimes the reasons change, but the public bashing is still there. Though, i guess there many factors for that. Like playing 2 vs 2 alone, would most likely get you a bad experience.
Certain people just autoleaving, when they dont like their match up or their opponents, allies. Getting the blame, when your random ally doesnt play, but you want to play, are all things you need to be ok with. If to be a fully member over there, is your goal.
So if you cant bear the toxicity of Starcraft Remastered, maybe try it with the toxicity of the Shieldbattery/Chat/ 2 vs 2 matchmaking.

Of course certain members of the community are more prone to get the treatment than others.
But dont expect others to step in, because like allways they will watch enjoy the show, other may get the feedback for their application, but remember you allways can change the situation.
Nobody forces you to play a game or a application, as such, you can play only certain modes, only with friends, or you only go into 2 vs 2 with a person that can give you that emotional support.
Or just quit it alltogether. Concentrate on more important matters in life, go out meet people face to face, or work on something else.

Just dont expect me to come back or promote your torture device or vote for you, Ignorantia juris non excusat. Sadly toxicity a stable, not a bug, but a feature of most if not all multiplayer games.

I do not encounter too many angry people tbh. My of the anger I feel playing the game is losing to stuff I scouted or throwing games. Most of my games not a single word is said, and players usually tap out without a gg, I don't think they are raging

Totally agree! My theory is that this is happening because of the average age of the BW community is higher in comparison to other communities. As you get older you don't waste your energy in raging (or at least don't exteriorize it that much) about some things that don't deserve it.

I remember how was the community when I joined in 2005 and it was completely different back then. You would get people flaming, trolling or hiding pylons instead of leaving the game (which I hated) quite often.

They probably just finally realised that unless you are a professional that makes actual money from the game then it doesn’t really matter how good at the game you are. There’s no point getting too worked up over what happens in game.At some point real life becomes more important and you stop caring so much.

The real question people want to know is when will Lucky livecast more FFA games? Replays are broken.

Didn't read the whole thread by I saw this post and WyattShoes is the name that instantly popped up in my head. He has been doing his rambling thing for MONTHS in the public chat channel. TBH I don't really care and just ignore but his consistency is interesting.

this type of behavior has gone on as long as online gaming has existed its a "people" issue not a video game issue.

I like it too but this generation didn't grow up like we did so if you want to maintain newer players then it would probably be wise to not scare them away by reminding them of how badly they play. Growing up in a community where filters didn't even exist then going to LoL was a shocking realization at how fragile people are. The amounts of reports that I had coming my way for saying something that probably non of us would even remotely consider as offensive like " stop being stupid ". was something else. You knew what people got offended by because RIOT would send you the quote that offended the players who reported. Eventually I ended up getting banned. It was so tough to break out of those habbits because that was just the norm we grew up in. People these days have such fragile egos that it honestly concerns me. I wonder what it'll be like in another 30 years.

People today want to have fun when they’re playing a game they’re putting time and money into.

I think in general the characterisation of fragility is arse backwards. I’m unsure how else one would characterise spewing bile at opponents, team mates, moaning about balance etc every time one is having a bad (or hell even a good game) is if not coming from a place of having an ego that can’t own failure, nor showcase any restraint.

I would agree that, especially for really big games that auto-filtering can be way too strict and take away lighthearted banter, a smidge of acceptable salt etc that I do also enjoy to an extent.

The ‘it’s the internet’ explanation defence and norms there have only applied to a vanishingly small portion of human history, there’s no real reason they’ll be locked in as the norm in perpetuity.

Accidentally posted double...

The main point is hate it (or for very few ppl love it) near anarchy level of chat freedom allows us to see the worst of the smallest parts of our brains on display... But this is true for any other similarly unmodetared wide reaching platform.
