I see people saying SCR is somehow uniquely toxic and that is what turns people off.
I think the clear issue is (as usual) a failure of Blizzard and Activision Blizzard to provide any active moderation (I assume someone has been banned after being repeatedly reported for hacking after months of abuse but I have no proof of that).
Even Minecraft anarchy servers have more moderation! In my experience those have a much higher % of attention seeking toxic ppl. BTW owned by Microsoft so I am sceptical any improvement will come on that front.
If you have spent more than 24 hours browsing the interwebs you should be used to seeing high level discussions like the examples below.
In conclusion if you spot a new person send them to the Coach Pupil League and they will have a blast!
Examples of toxicity: 1 image is from Today (took me 3 mins to get it cuz I had to update SCR), 1 image is from earlier pandemic times. See if you can tell which is which. Also 1 from Minecraft to compare (timeless).

Microsoft owned Mojang just released a Minecraft update this week that added exactly that: user reporting which can result in bans. Despite strong disagreement from the community.
But then again, Minecraft brings in a lot of money, SCR doesn't.

If players are looking for a solution then the answer is obviously community driven, SB in this case. My guess is players can have much more influence on the direction of that platform than they ever will on bnet lol.

True. But now with MS I don't think regular battlenet would be shut down. So moving ppl to SB would be harder.

BW got probably one of the nicest communities i participated in.
SF4>BW>SC2>SFV>HoN>Dota>CS>LoL
And games like LoL got a system to report "toxic" behaviour which didnt change anything.

I don't think you understand the extent to how bad these people get. Last year a BW streamers mother was murdered in cold blood because she would ignore him in chat and not play BW the way he wanted her to.
In less extreme cases, you have viewers finding where streamers live and stalking them all day and night. There was a stalker who truly believed he was dating the streamer and was turning more and more aggressive. There's a lot of fuckin weirdos out there.

Well let's just agree to disagree. I'm 1000% fine with teens and young 20's being toxic. It's just part of being young and competitive. But when you're in your 30's and 40's being toxic that shit is a no go for me.

Yea but this murder happened at a time where there was less than 30k viewership on average in the whole BW category. Murderer had a reason specific to the game not for some bogus reason. Make matters worse there were community members making jokes and cheering his actions on.
