Do SC:R really need port forwarding? From what i recall they said its not necessary anymore.
However i just tried "prefer port 6112" and opened port in router and now my weird "games not showing up" bug is gone.
What happened was games are shown briefly as white and then they become grey. They are then re-shown whenever someone join said game.
Do you all open port or does it work flawlessly without for you?
Edit: Seems Bonjour service was required. [solved]
Edit2: After restarting computer and having bonjour service activated, its the same now. it doesnt work xD

not opening any ports anymore. i guess it should work without port forwarding nowadays.

One of the beautiful things about SC:R is that anyone can host a game.

What I can see it's bugged in 2 ways: - either games are not showing up or quickly disappearing; - you can see all the games including the ones that are stuck (canceled or started games and you're not able to join them). Both are really annoying but I prefer the 2nd one and sometimes you need to restart sc a couple of times to make it work. I faced that issue some patches ago, then it was fixed, now it's back.

Well for some reason i restarted my PC and now its the same as before.. A very short games list and they disappear (gets grey) very quickly.
Edit: I just opened port 6112 again and ill keep it like this.. Cant be arsed.
Yes the old games unable to join exists here too. Thats however on Blizzards side not mine.

I've found it doesn't work if you have someone join locally (same house) and have others not locally. Just won't start We're back to gameranger.

I had 1 of my ports blocked. Fixed it. Did not change a thing.

I was under the impression that some games with the symbol to the left of their name was due to closed port issues?
|
They are proxied. Doesnt necessary have to be ports.
|
are you maybe on ipv6 with dslite? that caused problems for me and my friend.
|
nope ipv4. dslite? isnt that nintendo? :D
|
I had the same issue. I fixed it by going into my firewall and marking SCBW and Bonjour as allowed.

Its better to keep ports open, when u have public ip. Without it, if all players are blocked, game is hosted by proxy server and it affects latency.

The amount of virus I've got from playing custom maps in brood war 15 ~ 20 years ago was insane xD all of those memory injection is too good.
