Poll: Too much shouting? (Vote): Yes, more analysis please (Vote): No, the balance is right (Vote): No, but we want more analysis also (Vote): Yes, don't ever commentate again!
I've got the commentary bug also! Here are the latest ones.
Unfortunately I had to do a couple of these over because they didn't record correctly the first time, so if I sound hoarse near the end or jaded that is the reason. Imagine having to do a 30 min commentary all over again
I started out originally with a series of commentaries on the OSL Season 3 semi-final match-up between savior and Iris which can be found :
I do feel that in the latest ones I'm shouting a bit too much and not giving enough analysis of the game, do let me know if that's the case and I'll do my best to tone it down.
I've only started out so I appreciate any advice in helping me to get better at this.
I recently tried doing that myself and I know it's not easy at all. Aside from the occasional stutter (due to you being a bit nervous I guess) it was really really good. A lot of insight and nice to listen to.
I've only seen the savior vs iloveoov so far and i gotta say it was pretty damn good, i usually don't like english commentaries because it sounds so.. hmm.. weak and forced, but this was seriously nice commenting.
Also it was fun to finally here someone say "iloveoov" in english, always wondered if people pronounced it "oh oh vee" or "oooooh'v"

haha yeah I just finished that and that lubricant line was killing me.
That's what went through my head basically every single time I've seen SaviOr play against oov.
I thought he said lubricant something, but I didn't want to play it back b/c my comp restarts the whole vid sometimes. Wasn't too sure he said it was a bit random. :p
I liked the Savior one the best. You had some good one liners that were thrown in there once the game became obvious. Perhaps if you slowed down a beat when there is no action and speed up instead of shouting during the action, it would help to producing a more strealined commentary. This means with less stuttering and better control of content vs play by play. What I am saying is that possibly replacing shouting with an increase in tempo when speaking creates an illusion of increased excitiement.
Lastly, I found my self eager to hear what you would say during the most exciting parts. Although, too often I didn't hear complete ideas due to the rapid play by play style. Perhaps within the play by play you could be slightly more selective and mention the most critical parts of the action. Well, all in all I am very impressed. I know that this type of thing is very difficult and you have shown great potiential. I think you have shattered many peoples expectations with your work. I am going to look for these on YouTube. If they are not there please put them their so I can add them to my playylists. I am sure that others would like to save them too. Thanks!.
first two were excelent! i saw the first one before with korean talking, and now i had a few more insights (when saviour lured ilovoov away from his initial sunken line for instance).
one thing though, this way you commentate now is for people who cannot watch the video. It would be perfect for audio only matches..(where u have shoutcast but no videocast) kind of when u listen to soccer @ radio instead of watching it on TV. When you're watching on TV you dont have to comment in detail everything that happens, for example when someone is repairing their tanks..
Im not saying its bad at all, its very good accually but maybe you should try to keep the details A LITTLE lower and focuss more on feeling and talking about what they should do and not do from here etc.
I dont know how to explain it.. just watch the difference from commentators @ radio and commentators @ TV and i think you'll get what i mean.
i hope you make more of these, and also hope you will shoutcast at some showmatches for example gg.net or something;) atm we only have german shoutcasts...
haha i liked: "and now this game is just getting completely insane"
and also time 17:44 @ oov vs fbh
"That expansion is going to take some serious dmg, firebathero.. and oov is forced to use his scvs to fight again, but firebathero eh iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis tank are getting taken out coz..."
"oov is dropping 6 dropships worth of units into fbh's expansion, so thats very bad news for fbh" ^^
that show alot of enthusiasm;) its great i think.. i laughed so hard;)
Great stuff, maybe I can lure more people into watching vods now, they all think I'm crazy listen to the Koreans
A couple of things if I may: - small pauses are allowed, don't feel that you have to be 3 Koreans by yourself hehe. - When positions are shown on the screen as "2" and "1" its probably a good idea to stick to those (oov vs fbh). - You either need to adjust your settings or a better microphone in the long run.

I'm going to disagree with this. I think commentating on everything that happens is also useful when you want to explain the strategies behind the gameplay.
Anyway, just watched the Oov vs FBH game. You have absolutely awesome commentary. That's all I can say.

yeah but if you talk about every little detail that happens there is no time to explain the strategies behind the gameplay.. no time to say much else, abut cut back on the details to talk more about other things.. sry for many posts im abit tierd..
I absolutely love them. I really can't think of anything I'd like you to change except maybe a bit better quality audio. I find them tasteful, entertaining and educational.
I love the play-by-play style. I feel like I can be working or writing something and listen to it like the radio, and still be entertained.

You basicaly said one of the point from my post which shows it is relevent to a extent.
To sum up how I feel: If you were to continue, I'd stop watching progames live and wait for your versions to come out to watch instead.
Extraordinary job.
Edit:
It's really awesome when you actually understand what the commentator is actually saying for once. Again, you've done an incredible job thus far. I will agree with others about the microphone issue, but it's pretty much ignorable in relation with the content. Keep it up!
Please. XD
To Superiorwolf: Don't feel bad if you're reading all this praise and feeling underappreciated now. You did a decent job before and you were part of what set this commentating frenzy off and, despite the outburst on B.net, you've shown yourself to be a good sport in general. So, keep it up and keep learning strategically. Maybe you'll be in the running at the top for SCII.
I also only watched the oov vs saviour game, great commentry. Instead of telling us what we see on the screen like most people do, you tell us abouts strategy which is much more interestign.
