StarCraft: Brood War is a magical game. The incredible world of Korean eSports it created and the thousands of people who still love to play it nearly 20 years since its release are a testament to that much. But 20 years is a long time, and Brood War's technology increasingly has become incompatible with modern computers.
Even for those who can get the game to launch and run properly, hosting and joining matches is another story. And even then, the game's lack of any of the modern features we've come to expect from online games – like a matchmaking system – make finding someone to play with even harder. The dedicated few go through a lot of trouble just to play the game they love, but for most people it's far too much to ask. Not anymore.

I think the key word from Wrath's question was "legal" which wasn't explicitly specified in the article.
Great article. I have some critic tho from the screenshots i saw, i find the visual design too basic and some icons inappropriate like match button, birthday cake with candle.

i think what they're saying here is most likely the same "we don't really mind" atm as they say with respect to iccup. SC:BW is too small atm to be a concern for them, thus third party servers are tolerated in general.
If they would care, they'd try to close fish server down first, because it's the most popular server. (except -VS- server in China perhaps)

I think you under estimate the amount of people who stopped playing bw because of issues with latency windows etc.... Even with the help of things like mca etc.... I for one can't wait for the new server....

well everybody is very hyped currently and that's a good thing, but i think currently most guys overestimate the amount of ppl that are gonna come back when said problems are gone. Let's hope you're right tho.
