When I started, 1 hatch lurk link runby won me many games, but you will learn the limitations of this build and every aspect of it, so you will soon learn to go standard as soon as you meet better players. Cheesing usually gives you an idea what you can do and what you don't, and what the enemy can do so you can more easily fend of cheese. I wouldn't cheese, in fact I'd learn a few standard build order guides and go for them over and over again in the same matchup on the same map, look at replays after each game. Then download some pro player replays on the same map, watch them on slow speed and see how they do it, rinse and repeat. You will start winning and beating D- players eventually just by doing that, and you lay a foundation to get to D+ and higher as you improve

When you can do your build in auto pilot without thinking you'll be free to think of tactics while playing. 3 - Learn the zerg keyboard shortcuts. Obvious but very important. 4 - Find a control group + camera set up that you're comfortable with. For example you could set your main troops to control group 1, your mutalisks to group 2, your main base to F2, your natural to F3, and so on. Play against a bot and fiddle around until you are comfortable and quick. 5 - Watch your replays. Don't watch your opponent, but focus on the first fuck up you saw yourself doing. Next game, try to avoid it. The more games you play and watch that way the more refined your play will become. Yeah this QFT Think BW chart is really helpful to see what hotkeys progamers and your opponent use Also the guys assume you know already, but play on ICCUP http://iccup.com/en/starcraft/sc_start.html And once you lose a few games, only ask for games with other D- players, and when someone seems equally skilled to you, just ask for rematches Also Protoss is the easiest to learn because of the easy building creation and smaller amounts of expensive units (bud hard to master, PvX is very hard on a lot of maps)

Your "victories" should be, "Hey did I do better this game, or not? Have I corrected the mistakes I had been doing in the past few games? Have I learned something?". If your answers to those questions after your games are "yes", you are on the good path. This game is hard, but it's feasible if you keep learning from your games (each lost has something meaningful for you to learn!) Enjoy!
