First off, I have searched and found nothing quite like this Before posting, I also checked the "Official want to play a game thread," and found it a little less than active.

With PGT down, and the community split between 50 billion channels on 50 billion servers, I'm finding it fairly difficult to get 1v1s with players of a similar skill level.

I've tried the obvious options:

- op tl-west: one third afk, one third just passing through on their way to the next TMM, and one third minor celebrities with better things to do (like...SITTING IN OP TL-WEST!).
- brain/fish: almost exclusively Koreans; a variety of good and bad players, but communication is difficult, and I get a little frustrated after seeing "õÿÔø ;;;;;;;;;;~" for the hundredth time and being kicked.
- random west pubs: some good players, more bad players, even more "You have been banned!"
- clan mates:
blahblah1[blahclan] - offline
blahblah2[blahclan] - offline
blahblah3[blahclan] - offline
blahblah4[blahclan] - offline

For me, none of these are a reliable and consistent way to log game time. What I'm looking for is a bunch of decent, active players to add to my messenger list. Friendly and well-mannered is a plus, but I'm not picky

If you're prepared to be asked almost every day for a set of 1v1s, please reply here with your MSN messenger address, race(s), and skill level (see below). I'll keep a list in this post of anyone who wants to be "advertised" like this.

Skill level:
I - still feel lost often; hard to decide on what to do most of the time.
II - been playing some time, pretty comfortable with the basics of the game.
III - can feel what's happening most of the time, and respond appropriately; rarely make unforced mistakes.
IV - usually feel able to really control the direction the game takes; have reaction down to a science, but prefer to be the one calling the shots.
V - I'M A BEAST!!!

Please don't take the rating system too seriously. It's meant only as a basic guide. If you have any suggestions on improving the wording, however, post away!

players:

fonger / yodathecoda at hotmail dot com / Terran / II
Kwark / kwaark at gmail dot com / Protoss / II (assumed, from what was posted)
Return / run_4_undercover at hotmail dot com / Protoss / III

Hmm.. Since there hasnt been a really good ladder in a long time now Ive actually thought of a pretty easy idea myself where you can go game. I came with up with it after playing a lot of dota.pickup but im too lazy to start it up and it might take a lot of work to get ppl there.

However the basic idea is to have a IRC channel where ppl can get game. You will have bots (which are really easy to adjust for assignments etc). In this channel you would be able to play on all servers, or even hamachi. (Probably best though if you had 1 server or client (hamachi) where all played, at least if you were to do a ladder)

Then after game you would just report to a bot or so and have a website which updated the results but you needed to confirm with a replay or so. It sounds alot like the old wgt system but at least it would be like a ladder-,-

... Or we can just get games as we do today :o Coz it works just fine 95% of time-_-

Oh and just to add, the best thing incontrary of WGT's bot system, is that it wouldnt lag as much on mirc and bots wouldnt be down 24/7 -_-

IRC channel for 1v1s is pretty good idea actually, I really like it. Imagine 300 ppl on irc channel shouting "1v1 D+ (or w.e:D) euro, msg me "

Are there any people that could set up those bots ? I'm happy that I can auth myself :D, but rly can't help with this

A really good post. I'd be happy to game you alone for that. Though going by your post I guess i'm not what you're looking for. + I could probably only do it a few times.

Best of luck. >.<

doesn't tl.net have an IRC channel with around 50-60 people in there?
Maybe a few of those from time to time would like to game.

TL irc is really afk though. Ive been bored and gone there looking for games a few times, and to be honest you would have 1000% better luck just making a thread here, even if someone people are gonna be annoyed.

an irc chan solely for games is a great idea but most of the starcraft players aren't that much into irc so most likely it will end in like a few people who are afk 90% of the time

The IRC channel is more afk than the op TL-West channel -_- An IRC channel for gaming sounds good.

Good idea.
I have a suggestion to the Mods. Maybe you can put an Irc Applet like http://cgiirc.sourceforge.net/ on Tl.net website and have a section for getting games. That way the mass traffic this site gets will be directed to the IRC channel and whatever system for getting games could be managed from there.

Also it would just be cool to be able to move with a click to the chat area

Thanks, and I hope we will find a good way to get games soon..

here is how you do it, it doesn't look easy though. I'd do it but I can't be online 24/7.

I dunno really, some times II sometimes III and even sometimes IV overall i need to play a lot to gain consistency.
But i would probably say III is the most appropriate :S
