So I made this thread in the SC2 section to see what others opinions were on these gaming chairs, I haven't gotten much feedback on these chairs and I was thinking what were the old "Gaming" chairs that old BW pro gamers used to use back in the day if anyone knows? I don't remember all the old BW pros using gaming chairs like DXRacer / MAXNOMIC back in the day, but I can't for the life of me remember.
Check them out guys, really nice, think I am just going to suck it up and get Cipher, they have good reviews, and I don't think I can afford a DXRacer chair, unless I got the junior size which I would probably fit into, but don't want it to be underwhelming.... "
So is there any good computer / office / gaming chairs that you guys would recommend? If it will work for BW gamers, it will 100% work for SC2, as I am playing both still.

The chairs they were using is something similar to the chair hero is using, you can see it from time to time on his stream when he has his cam on.
I hear if you wear SBENU shoes while you play StarCraft, you will micro like boxer, macro like oov, multitask like bisu, and concentrate like Jaedong!
Truth is you shouldn't waste your money! You're paying an extra 200 dollars for the label "gaming" which should offend and annoy you that companies think (rightly) that gamers are really dumb. Just go to a store that sells lots of office chairs (even a used office supply store you can get really good deals) and get a chair that feels right. Two important things are that the seat isn't longer than your thighs, and your feet can rest on the ground.
Look up any thread about what BW players use, and you will get a really mundane answer that basically amounts to 'whatever was around.' The only bad idea is to get a ball mouse, because it's not 1998 anymore and you're not Kang Min.
Considering I wrote I am playing SC2 and BW, and I mention NEEDFORSEAT / maxnomic, and you mention hero, of course I am going to ask what hero you are talking about, since also we are on TL's team's website, it is a legitimate question buddy...
lol I love how people are so critical / such smart asses for no reason...So I understand people may think the chairs I were ASKING ABOUT are too expensive / not worth it, chairs that I DON'T OWN, and am CURIOUS about, since I am in the market looking for another chair.....
You know what would have been a more mature logical answer if you think the chairs I were asking about sucked? Maybe make a better suggestion about what chair would be good for a reasonable price, maybe post some links of other chairs that you may use / you may suggest. Or give some form of valid advice.
I never should have posted this in the BW general forum, all of you kiddies who think you are BW elitists when you don't even play anymore, despicable. The fact that you would be such a smart ass to say " if you were in Sonic's shoes you will micro like jaedong, flash, bisu , ect. "
This is really the advice that you give to someone asking a simple question, instead of trying to give valid good advice, utterly pathetic. Maybe one day you passive aggressive kids will actually learn to play instead of being keyboard warriors, when you do PM me for a game
You just insulted all these people while acting entirely worse than them, GJ!
If you like the chair, buy it. More expensive chairs mean one of two things, 1) "branded" shit or 2) higher quality.
Its rare that you would get both, most branded shit is worth a fraction of what its sold for but marketing works wonders for it (see Razer and im using 4 products with 3 more stashed away atm and i freely admit this.)
You can most likely find a chair that is just as good for a great deal less. Looking at those chairs they seem to be very flashy without benefit. (Why the airholes @ neck for instance.)
The only recommendation i can give you is dont buy padded armrests. Get solid plastic ones (like those seem to have) because they'll be fucked in a matter of months of heavy use. I bought a chair for ~$190 that had padded arm rests and they were shit. Chair was lovely though, nothing "gaming" or "racing" about it, just a sweet ass luxury leather office chair.

Don't worry, this is not a reply to you. I just want to archive your bullshit, in case you want to edit it out someday later, like, when you realized what kind of gobshite you produced. You're my beloved little ghastly munchkin <3

I felt I gave you real advice. The crux of my suggestion is that you shouldn't order a chair online, you should go to a retail store or warehouse and sit in a bunch of different chairs. I can't give you the name of a specific store because in all likelihood we don't live in the same area.
It's like with trying on clothes, except you are spending quite a bit more money so it's even more important to get something you know you like.
I think online reviews and celebrity endorsement can only tell you so much. I know making this thread was your effort to get more information, but I don't understand why you flat reject it when you get super down to earth advice that isn't just pushing a particular brand or model. I only wrote the advice I would give myself if I didn't know it.

My Need for Seat chair is pretty much amazing (Imo). With a lot of other chairs the padding wears out pretty quick. I've had this chair for over a year and the padding is the same as when I built it. Although it is (compared to others) a bit stiffer/thicker you might want to consider getting separate memory foam seat cushion. All this stuff is pretty pricey but IMO it's worth it if you game or work a lot in your chair. The construction is good quality and the arm rests aren't padded but they are adjustable. Mine also reclines which is very nice for power naps or watching BW. I don't know about this "MAXINOMIC" business though.
That said BW pros used Generic Chair made by Generic CO made in Generic Generic factories with Generic materials...Generic(tm).

Haha, I like how some people like to pretend that gaming chairs are not a thing, even though clearly all gaming related parties are using very similar chairs, like this guy pointed out:

They offer different height classes of their chairs, which they call casual, pro and office. Too bad, guess short people cannot play video games professionally. ^.^
Here is a picture of my computer chair. I'm not sure how much it costs, but I feel like it provides the lumbar support that any good chair should have.

Let's answer op at least : bw pros didn't use any particular chair. "Gaming chairs" are a new trend and they are mostly bullshit marketing stuff. But if you feel better about buying something to support esports why not.
WOW as soon as I sat in this chair, I was like " Where have you been my whole life " , this is the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in, in my life, and it is PERFECT for gaming, I know this will cure all the back / neck pain from not playing ergonomic!

actually i've been looking for something similar, nice find.
It like reclines automatically as you lean back and it is always perfect back support, I swear this chair was made for SC ! and its on sale 100$ less than what it normally sells for...it's a steal I tell you!

Why does that mean it's made for sc? I don't understand why a good chair is different from a gaming chair

The chair I posted and am describing is NOT a "GAMING" chair, it is an "OFFICE" chair that I feel is "PERFECT" for "GAMING" ....lol....seriously...

Yeah I clicked on it. That's what I'm wondering, isn't it just a good chair? What are the features that make you think it is good as a gaming chair as opposed to good as a chair?

Ahh...well when you are playing games it is good to be sitting in an ergonomic comfortable position that is healthy for your neck / back, I have been having a lot of issues with neck / back pain, and so I feel that this chair in turn be perfect for gaming, as that is what I use the chair for ... gaming.
Therefor the reason I said this chair is perfect for gaming is because the design, this chair would benefit anyone who sits infront of a PC playing StarCraft a game for 8+ hours a day, although it would benefit anyone sitting in a chair for 8 hours a day as well so I guess I see where you are coming from.

But there is no point in arguing just for the sake of arguing, which it seems you are trying to do.
I too am looking for a new chair, and as someone who plays games, and does work in a chair, I was wondering if there were any features I should be looking for. Thanks for answering my question, though

Right well I think it was really stupid of me to think that there is a difference between office / gaming chair, I have never actually sat In a DXRacer / maxnomic chair before ( These seem to be the best "GAMING " Chairs), but I also have never sat in these really nice "Office" chairs, people were right.
There is no reason to go for an expensive "Gaming" chair like DXRacer / maxnomic unless you are rich / have the extra money / are picky / or maybe really tall ( I heard the DXRacer chairs are better for tall people and not so good for short people ) , this chair is amazing because it automatically reclines for you as you lean back, so you are always in the most comfortable position, but it doesn't lean back to easily so it's not like you will have trouble while gaming, it is amazingly comfortable in all aspects imaginary for me, but I am a short person.
I weigh like 140LB's and I am only like 5'4 - 5'5 , so I am a very small dude, so I would honestly go by staples / office depot / office max / best buy , ect. and literally sit in all these chairs like other people suggested to me, because when I sat in the staples hyken I fell in love!
They didn't have It in stock and that sucked but I immediately ordered it online on my phone, the package came the very next day ( wtf amazing ! ) , It was shipped and arrived in under 24 hours ! It is sitting at my house now and I will be setting it up when I get home...
I got really psyched out and really wanted a "gaming" chair but like I said before, unless you are rich or have a lot of money saved up , or are absolutely set on this and a lunatic about it, then I'd go with an office chair , you might find another gem like the Hyken!
But if you are a relatively small person like me and looking for a nice chair that I think is perfect for starcraft, go with the Hyken... trust me
On December 25 2014 16:29 wptlzkwjd wrote: Gaming chairs are about as legit as gaming glasses lol and progamers wore those back in the day as well xD.
Computer glasses are legitimate and are recommended by optometrists to people who work at a computer for extended periods of time and experience eye-strain even after following basic advice like the 20-20-20 rule. They basically are specially prescribed glasses for mid-range sight activities like looking at a monitor about 4 feet away, where normal glasses are intended for farther distances and sometimes don't work quite right (and ditto for reading glasses and very near distances). They also filter out certain kinds of light (similar to what sunglasses do) that monitors emit that can cause eye strain for some people / are specially designed to reduce glare, which is also a major cause of eye strain.
There's definitely some snake oil out there tho; I'd get the optometrist's opinion before buying, and you probably don't need them if you have no trouble reading the text on your monitor without glasses (which is sometimes just a matter of increasing the zoom).
Maybe your complaint is just about branding them as gaming, but there's my info dump anyway ;p

Yeah, glasses can make a huge difference. As someone who programs 8hrs a day then gets on a computer at home, it's a must for my eyes.
