^ Completely agreed with what prech said as well as lemmata once again.
Now that all these information and truth have come to light & the progamers and fans themselves know of the consequences/scenarios/corruption, I hope that in the near future that if such a possibility of a near-full revival of Korean Professional SC BW scene or any gaming scene in Korea for that matter occurs, there would be counter-measures and regulations to stop things like this.
Reminds me of BoxeR's once desire to create an actual player union to protect progamers from abuse or corruption like this.

I hope Coach Cho wasn't involved in forcing Effort out the first time, would ruin how I remember him.

Woah, that's heavy stuff. I wonder if it's much better for EffOrt and ZeuS to have kept it to themselves rather than letting the public know even if accidentally...
It's not too surprising though, all sports have these kinds of incidents. It's the other side of sports...

I don't think that's a correct statement to make, not after when CJ stoop so low to get rid of Effort and Hydra, who has been underperforming in sc2 and yet drawing a salary more befitting of their BW stature. Instead of proper discussions/negotiations CJ decided to pull a dick move to evict them out of the team. Match fixing or not that is unethical and real disrespectful to the players in general.
And the part where Effort actually curse coach park to death was a bit shocking Coach park has always been seen as a pretty cool dude and has a nice public image In private he must have been real dickish to effort for effort to burst out at him in such a way

It is unclear if this was a negotiation tactic, but EffOrt's first retirement was at least semi-forced upon him as a cost-cutting measure. Part 2: EffOrt says that his second retirement (SC2) was because he was unjustly suspected of match-fixing. He was apparently doing poorly against SC2 Protoss. The coaching staff and the scrubs on the team started suspecting both EffOrt and Hydra of match-fixing. EffOrt says they denied suspecting him but he knew what they were saying behind his back. It was serious enough that our man XellOs, retired from pro-gaming but still a CJ employee at the time, vigorously came to their defense. EffOrt says that his mother's health played a role, but the main reason that he retired was because he couldn't stand being suspected of match-fixing like that. EffOrt said that he was absolutely furious at Coach Park (formerly of SKT) for doing this to him and said that Coach Park shouldn't touch him if he had any sense. Apparently, XellOs immediately quit his job at CJ when EffOrt retired and Hydra left. The day after this broadcast, a sober EffOrt said that he was embarrassed to have shown himself getting so drunk, but that he doesn't take back anything he said about Coach Park. EffOrt said that Coach Park is an SOB and that he would stab him to death if he could. My Analysis: These are the far-reaching consequences of the match-fixing scandal. CJ was never a team that was super interested in winning. CJ had a team because CJ owns Ongamenet and Ongamenet needed to fill Proleague with enough teams. Its finances were strapped because of the forced merger with Hite Sparkyz (which was itself previously sponsored by Ongamenet). It didn't really have an incentive to support stars who did not have mass appeal (code: not good looking). Also, the match-fixing scandal seems to have made every player into a potential suspect and made it possible for teams to harass players into retirement if they wanted to save money. Zeus had previously told the true story of why Britney was removed from Hite immediately after the match-fixing scandal. In that story, the team had budget cuts and just needed to get rid of an ugly-looking gamer who wasn't good enough to compensate for his bad looks before merging with CJ. Zeus said that they internally accused Britney of match-fixing in order to obtain some sort of justification for moving him to Woongjin. Effort has received a lot of criticism on Afreeca for what he said about Coach Park, who has a great reputation in Korea, but somehow I get the feeling that what Effort claims isn't too far from the truth. The only real conclusion is this: FXXX the guys who participated in the match-fixing scandals. They ruined many careers besides just their own.

straight up I think that post needs it's own thread: typically when dirty laundry like that becomes public in any scene it opens up the floodgates for other relevant people to open up. not only that but i think it's something that's significant enough to draw attention on the sidebar with it's own title.
i would love to create that thread myself but i'm not connected enough to update an important thread OP like that.
edit: now that I think about it, this is the thing that's going to GUARANTEE responses from at LEAST coach park and CJ Entus.

CJ as an organization still care about winning. They would just rather focus their resources on their League of Legends team.

i know that bw players are superstars and all, but from a normal person standpoint i'd say making 90,000,000 KRW/year safe for playing video games is a pretty chill deal. if only ...

As mentioned, he has such a good image in the KR scene that this seems so out there however I don't think Effort is lying to us, at least not for something like this. Disappointing to hear about and frankly, a dickish move by CJ to get rid of Effort.

Remember that there's always two sides to a story. EffOrt just recently became the prosecutor with the claims he made while allegedly intoxicated, so let's wait for the defendants to tell their side of the story before casting judgment on anyone.

so what. Even if what Effort say is 100% true, with no hard evidence CJ/coach park will just deny everything. Effort would be worst off trying to go for a defamation/slander lawsuit against a chaebol like CJ.
