I think by.hero has the highest eAPM in ZvP.

This is what he has in common with Flash and Rain, players with a flow-charty playstyle, who are known for their efficient screen switching. Flash once said that the most important thing in Starcraft is to think of what to do for the upcoming display screen, while carrying out what you should do on the monitor screen currently. I think this sort of philosophy is best represented by Soulkey for the zerg race as of today. herO does not have a particularly high eAPM, but he does have high APM numbers. I don't think he is in possession of great multi-tasking, but within the zerg-versus-protoss match-up, he does use his high APM figures to produce non-stop while using his massive numbers of hydralisks in unison to beat down the protoss force on the given screen. herO knows how to optimize his drone count and build order, and abuses certain timings while focusing on a single screen to perfect his hydralisk movement and formation.

Really spot on analysis, LetmeLose. I live for this and wish I could get better at it.

Randomly thought of this as I was watching ASL and remembered I used to really enjoy SSL too but haven't heard of it in a while.

Based on his facebook page he is still actively posting and still works for SBENU. So he's not in jail yet.

In further anecdotal support of this line of analysis, if you ever watch Serral in SC2 play in FPV for any length of time, this is really the skill that separates him from even other great players with high eAPM. He is extremely precise with each screen, doing exactly as much as he needs to on each screen before moving on to the next. It's a specific subset of eAPM but is possibly the most critical as having to switch screens is one of those artificial time sinks that injects tons of "dead" actions into your APM. Making the absolute best of each screen and utilizing each transition efficiently is an extremely hard skill to learn and very few players display mastery of it. Brood War, having smaller hotkey groups and no MBS, magnifies this even further. edit: This isn't even considering that even "effective" actions can be suboptimal with imprecise screen framing.
