. With the goal to provide a more streamlined experience for both the players and the audience, OGN will not be hosting WCS Korea 2014. OGN has rights to run both StarCraft and StarCraft II tournaments alongside WCS and will be able to run WCS global events that offer WCS points.
OGN has Blizzard's blessing to broadcast BW tournaments. This might not mean anything, but this is an official Blizzard release and no one else is mentioned as having broadcast rights to both games.
I don't think that changes anything. From the Q&A: "They (OGN) also retain the right to run both StarCraft and StarCraft II content"
It may not technically change anything, but lets be frank, businesses go over these sorts of press releases with a fine tooth comb and if they say something like that then they meant for it to be in there and mean something. They could have easily only said Starcraft II and nobody would have thought anything of it.
There's probably a pretty specific reason both games were mentioned.
Well, from Blizzard's point of view, OGN never really had the "rights" to broadcast BW in the first place, though I've long suspected the lawsuits were specifically anti-KeSPA. I wouldn't be surprised at all to at least see OGN airing the Sonic StarLeague, and I wouldn't even be so shocked if Blizz was pressuring them to do it, since a Blizzard-blessed BW revival helps ease some of the bad feelings a lot of the Korean market has towards SC2. And, once Legacy of the Void is out a few months, it officially makes no difference to Blizzard if BW usurps SC2 to become the One True eSport once again, especially since they'd be getting royalties for both. So I imagine Blizz is a lot more willing (eager?) to play nice with the BW scene.
Red Viper might be right to assume it's nothing, but at the very least, this seems to be Blizzard announcing that they will no longer try to fuck with the BW scene (though I think they've been on good terms with Sonic?).

This is what I meant by "specific reason both games were mentioned". Giving OGN a license to broadcast BW and not Sonic means more downward pressure on Sonic, because now he could get pressure from OGN as well.

What happened was basically Sonic was reminded before SSL7 finals that he needs a streaming license to BW to make sure there aren't any problems when he does the live event. Everyone went shitnutz, and IIRC someone important from Blizzard quickly got to know this and he basically pushed for everything to go smooth, so Sonic obtained the license in a matter of hours. I don't see how suddenly this license would be rendered ineffective and would be only usable by OGN.
Btw. Sonic ran a program before on OGN. I think rather than OGN fucking over Sonic, some kind of cooperation seems more viable. Any interference at this point would be a horrible PR move that would cause a great uprising.
It's already pretty clear that Sonic is barely making this teamleague work (it is fun, delivers epic games and everything) but constant rescheduling with 0 notice and players missing during casts.. no proleague revival is anywhere near.

Perhaps having a strict regimen similar to what kespa had would help enforce this

It would be tough to get players to go along with that kind of thing without the associated money...

Just watched Sea take out by.hero. So solid and great multitasking. Also, great mental strength under pressure. Hard to believe at times that he was considered ok in the sense that even though he led MBCGame to it's only victory, he did poorly in OSL/MSL. To be fair though, he's probably less stressed and playing better than back then so maybe it's not fair to compare this to past performances.
poor sziky T_T if only that overlord was just a tiny bit more closer Do the korean streamers like hiya, bisu, sea, hero movie know that sziky is like our foreign god?

At the beginning of this game Hiya thought Sziky was a chinese ex-pro but someone let him know that's not the case. I think Movie knows since he played him and they chatted a bit. Also Sea must know since he played the showmatch.

ooh that reminds me, how come there was no special showmatch for the TSL finals this time?

That's okay
I never thought of it as a proper SPL, more like the super matches he was doing a while back, with more rigidity. It's swell.

Sziky was really busy and couldn't find the time to play in the week besides the final games. I'm sure the TLS crew will make up for it with some cool show(matche)s while we wait for the Championship
