At first, I was thinking about Nada cuz he's adorable and it's 5:30AM and I'm feeling lonely. Then I thought about Boxer's slump and Yellow's current.
Nada could have a mental conflict right now and just needs mental focus...
Yellow's slump started after Boxer gay'd the shit out of him...
And Boxer's past slump I never considered a slump honestly...
Then I thought about myself, and some of the older players I used to play with. While some stayed active, when we play, I can keep up with them and win a good bit and sometimes a majority. However, whenever I play people who they claim are their new playing partners.. I get raped by the same skill level. I feel like I'm in a new school slump.
So I was just thinking if players just hit a peak, or style changes prevent them from playing their most comfortable game, or it's mental aspects..... or slumping is just a weak excuse for choboness. Do you think players do seriously slump or it's just other better players?

It's a highly competitve gaming environment. Gamers can lose to one another on any day. Usually if a highly skiled pro goes on a losing streak, bad luck has more to do with it than anything. I'd say slumping is showing performance over a period of a year or more. Neither Nada, Boxer, or Yellow slumped. A good example of player that we can truly label as slumping is Zeus

I think with SC, at their level if they start to change their style and play out of their normal realm... or their style becomes old hat, then they either have to change or become comfortable with it. I kinda think this has happened to a lot of Z users..
Also once you start losing its hard to start winning again once you are defeated in your head.

Chojja is SO not slumping. He is top2 MSL regardless right now. If you are top 8 SL, u aren't slumping shit.
Zeus.. I dunno if it's a slump or if he's 2nd tier now.
Ra and Kingdom come to mind in SL's but their PL is doing strong so I dunno...
I'm more fascinated in stuff about SC than playing the game itself now..... strange.

Nal_rA = Top 8 current MSL, top 6 to be more exact. He's not fucking slumping, omg. rA's record in proleague is incredible. He has also qualified for the next MSL. He is also 1 step away from becoming the 4th seed of the next OSL.

if you lose more than 2 straight it's considered a slump. If you have an overall win ratio of about %50 you're a washed up nobody. If you won a starleague then fail to make top 4 in the next one you're also in a slump. At least, that's what the general consensus for a slump is around here

Well, if you were Seeded, then you fail to leave the group stage.. then fail to make the next OSL... that's a slump... I mean.. that's 2 whole seasons of fuckin up.

I think that if Nada gets more into his charity work, his mind will start to lead him into doing it for not only just himself/his dad but also for the various kids. Then I think he will start to become at least decent again.

i think that you need to update your strategy and style, with the change in the game. I Come back trying to use old pvt, but i recognized it doesn't work anymore with all the elky starts and other builds. So that is what i think it is :D

NaDa and Yellow are only slumping because their styles are too old and not effective now. NaDa used to own so bad because nobody had his micr/macro skills. I mean, some people could keep up in micro (like Boxer), but even they couldn't keep up in macro. And I can't think of players who could keep up in macro with NaDa regularly. Now you have macro machines like Oov who use very aggressive MACRO based builds. NaDa still plays it safe. You can't do that anymore. He needs a style revamp.
Yellow needs a revamp too. He just can't take control of the pace of the game very well. He needs to beef up his macro just a bit, but he has to do so without cutting aggression.

Boxer is out of his slump because of a style change. He has been taking hints from Oov. He doesn't timed push every game. He has been experimenting with going macro on his opponents.

Yellow makes an amazing comeback through harass after getting an early game ass fall back.
That was one of Yellow's sexiest games. I think Yellow doesn't need much a total re-vamp... I feel unsure bout Nada though cuz I can't tell T's apart too well cept the obvious. Xellos still plays it safe and he is still very strong...

before he was so far ahead in micro and execution he could just do all this random shit and still win just because he was so much better, but now hes gotta plan and build because everyone has the skills

I still think Boxer's micro is a step above. Midas vs Boxer TvT is a good example.
In the FPVOD you get to see Boxer take 5 vultures and rape Midas sooooo hardcore it's sick.
I always thought Boxer's build and strats were very carefully thought out. Him raping Yellow comes to mind. Proxy vultures in key locations is also a trademark...
He's always had planned cheese and gameplans. Valhalla Barracks, Bifrost Barracks, all that, etc.
Boxer's always been a thinker and innovator, his macro has just upgraded but I still feel Boxer is at his core, the very same Boxer we knew from since Coca Cola days.

Boxer is more willing to focus on micro because he is a micro based gamer and uses micro based strategies. NaDa displays outstanding micro using macro based strategies. It's a bit difficult to compare, but IMO, they are on the same level. NaDa's dropships micro, his unbelievable vulture control, his marine use...just wow.
Have you seen the MSL You are the Golf King game between NaDa and GoRush on Into The Darkness? NaDa vs Chojja on Forbidden Zone in Panasonic OSL? NaDa vs Reach on Forbidden Zone, I think also Panasonic OSL (he uses mines to kill ALL OF REACH'S PROBES)? NaDa has done some pretty unbelievable things. Boxer just does them more often, but again, he's a micro base gamer.

I disagree. Xellos is "safe" yes, but he's not nearly as passive as NaDa. He's a much more aggressive player. That's why NaDa > Xellos. But Oov > NaDa because Oov is aggressive in the sense that he uses risky macro builds. Xellos > Oov because while Oov takes those risks, Xellos penetrates. And the cycle continues.
Xellos isn't doing so hot right now either though.

definitely, his strats were never bad per se but they were often so out of the box that they weren't good.

I think Xellos is plenty fine. He just had a pretty bad showing at WCG and like the 2 games after -_-;;
He is still doing ok in a killer group. Everyone is 1-1. His PL have been off and on too.
Still, it's not the blazing Xellos we know but he is still hot.

Well IMHO real slump starts AFTER everyone calls you a "slumping player"(for example after loosing 2-3 games in a row or loosing to unknown player) because it really starts to pressure you, you think "OMFG I'm slumping, I'm looser, I'm etc.". That's why Boxer almost never falls into a deep slump(Xellos, Reach and some more players are also in this group), he is just very strong mentally.
