UPDATE Thanks to masterbreti and zeehar for translating that article roughly for us! violet has had a sudden recurrence of his leukemia thingy fortunately there was a bone marrow donor available so he got the transfusion straight away however there have been some side effects and complications following it that have weakened him he currently lacks a lot of white blood cells
kt is looking for any o-type blood donors the whole process for donors will take three days (the transfusion)

If there's one thing I'm really jealous of when it comes to the SC2 scene, it's the fact that there's so much interaction between the top korean players and the foreign scene. Also, please tell any (and all) of your progamer friends (I'm sure you have many) that their foreign fans would be delighted to talk to them and ask them questions, and even with little english skills we can communicate a lot. Ask ex-SKT player In_Dove, he had very fruitful interaction with foreign fans, most importantly by trying and doing the basics, rather than being afraid that his english wasn't good enough. Barracks double was. but Flash and many terran gamers make it be better. And Protoss players practice to correspond I think it's just stream of time for fast and safely expand

다행히 골수이식자가 나타나 골수이식을 받으며 상태가 호전되는가 하더니, 부작용 및 합병증으로 인해 최근 몸 상태가 매우 악화되었습니다. 현재 백혈구 수치가 현저하게 하락되어 몸의 면역력이 거의 제로에 가깝게 떨어진 상태로 제대로 몸을 가누기가 힘듭니다.
백혈구 수치를 다시 올려놓아야 추가 치료 및 또 다른 골수이식을 받을수가 있는데, 수치를 올리기 위해선 백혈구 성분현혈 지원이 필요합니다. 허나 우리 선수들의 수량으로는 턱없이 부족하네요..

If what I can tell is correct. It seems that he needs blood donars. O type from what I can read, if foreign fans who are in Korea and have O blood type, I think should get in contact with KT to donate, I'm going to check with my parents to see if they know my blood type.
violet has had a sudden recurrence of his leukemia thingy fortunately there was a bone marrow donor available so he got the transfusion straight away however there have been some side effects and complications following it that have weakened him he currently lacks a lot of white blood cells
kt is looking for any o-type blood donors the whole process for donors will take three days (the transfusion)

Just checked with family, My mother is Type O, going to check with the doctor back in Canada to see if I am the same. If thats the case, I will donate blood, I have more than enough already haha ^^

On blood donation: Its like the most heroic thing you can do with perhaps the least amount of effort. For those of us that aren't in Korea and can't give Violet some our juicy blood, perhaps we should try make something or do something so that when Violet next checks the thread he gets a big boost I for one am going to make a cheerful style get well soon card.

I don't know anything about his specific situation, but he needs it ASAP. He's probably in quarantine right now because if he even caught a cold it would be extremely dangerous.
I'd like to encourage everyone here who cannot directly donate violet blood to donate blood locally. There are many people like violet who need the help.

you could email them telling them of your interest, though i think you should check whether you have the correct blood type first

Indeed, blood drives are very important. I would donate to violet (correct blood type) but I live in the USA.
Hey they could be people who pay some attention to bw. The location and the kt tag make me think they are being manner rather than misinformed. So are there any updates recently, or is he still needing (and hopefully getting) blood transfusions?

I briefly checked his posts and all of them as far as i could see are SC2 related, so I think its very unlikely either way, doesnt hurt to make sure there are no misunderstandings =)
Seeing this thread resurface has encouraged me to give blood so that other people in similar situations can have blood transfusions. The blood given is restored in a month and I plan on giving it four times a year for as long as I can. Violet fighting - come back strong we miss you!!!

I did not know epilepsy and being to skinny would stop you from giving blood? Last I checked epilepsy isn't exactly contagious/transferable?? And why does being to skinny stop you from giving blood? Do they just assume skinny = diseased/malnutrition and bad blood?

I'm glad that he was able to communicate with the TL community before he passed away, though. He knew what great love and support we had for him.
While I didn't follow BW and haven't seen any of Violet's games, he is clearly a favourite among the community. To see that he's gone is super depressing and I hope his family get all the help they can to make it through this hard time. R.I.P

So sudden... I was a fan of Violet, given that he was on KT, and he started being a real strength for the team, then to hear he had Leukemia but I thought he would get past it. It's hard to believe. Best wishes for Violet's family and loved ones, and the rest of KT. A sad day, regardless of what team you might have cheered for. Is anyone in TL going to try to organize something again?
i don't even know what to say.. it's just not fair. these treatments for cancer are a double-edged sword and i hope that they can find a real cure so people like violet do not have to go through this pain anymore.

Shit, I don't even know what to say. This is fucking sad. I never thought that in all the years I'd watch Starcraft that someone would actually pass away like this.
I have just been restlessly staring at this title for 10 minutes hoping that it would suddenly change to something better. I dont even know what to say this was so sudden.
So sad. It's not that surprising seeing as how often stuff like this happens all over the world, but it's just really depressing to see it happen to a talented, young person.

I stopped to follow the esport scene but when I read that topic, I just wanted to show my support to his family, his friends and may be his girlfriend if he had one. RIP Violet, I didn't know you but die at this age, it's terrible.
Not long after i got into TL you were diagnosed with leukemia. a few months later I became a fan of KT, and that's when I started to learn more about you. Then, I posted in this thread and i will never forget that you took the time to respond to my post. RIP Violet, you will be missed. Leukemia is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer. Its up there with stomach, brain and heart cancers. When it recedes, it can feel almost like you're going to be fine. If it decides to come back, its usually nastier and more powerful than the last attack. Often it ends up like this. Just plain old taking you from this world in a matter of days~
Any potential end to the slew of cancers that have plagued us in the last centuries needs to be explored even though arguably there's a market in keeping people sick. Cancer is an awful thing for anyone to have. Especially kids and young adults who far too often lose their lives far too early on in life...

So I couldn't help but browse through BW Liquipedia, and as I was going through all of the KT Rolster's players, I ended up on Violet's Liquipedia page, read his biography that someone generously wrote, and came upon this thread.
Coincidence that today is actually exactly one year from when he passed away. Oh well, seeing his posts in this thread made me take a moment to really appreciate that the people around me are healthy and alive.
What the fuck is with the bump? It's not even 8 am and my morning has got even shittier I read the the thread thinking back in the day when he was still around fighting it and see all the encouraging comments for Violet like we'd been creating a healing sort of Spirit Bomb to cure him..
Wasn't it Violet who won the opening game in the 2010 Proleague finals against Canata? Not that it was a fantastic game... but it was memorable. At the time it seemed like a long shot for KT to beat SKT, so every win contributed by Not Flash was a huge deal.

That $20 to Violet... I believe TL+ came out after Violet passed away, so what a generous dude zefreak is.
I don't think we should reflect back in joy on all starcraft stories and just forget Violet's because he's passed away and it makes us sad. Rather, take every opportunity to remember his awesome games, spirit and openness to foreign fans. I think that's how he'd prefer to be remembered. It isn't easy but neither was cancer and he faced it with a smile.
It DEFINITELY was his breakout game. I remember watching that live and feeling so happy. RIP Violet, no doubt you would have been GSL material if you put your mind to it, you are remembered and always here with your fans. It sucked because he was coming back into form right before being diagnosed... aye.
