He understands BW so thoroughly, and can usually trace his losses back to control mistakes, mind game losses, and the like. But with SC2, he knows even during the game that he isn't really comfortable with it at all, build timings, resource management, control issues, and potential opponent strategies are not all rushing through his head as comfortably as they are in BW.
Basically, I imagine when he loses in BW, he thinks "I needed to understand my opponent better." But when he loses in SC2, it's probably closer to "I needed to understand this game better."
And I'm actually kind of excited about that. It's probably way more frustrating when you are the absolute master of a game to lose to an opponent who is just outthinking or outplaying you. But losing while still being able to see extremely clearly areas in which you can improve has to be much easier to handle.

Q Did you copy (Z)Stephano's play in the ace match. A Yes, I followed his play style. Honestly, I don't have the confidence that I will win every game in SC2 just yet. I don't have a solid grasp on the underlying concepts. I don't think I am at a level where you can compare my play to that of other zerg players such as Stephano. Amazing that he picked a foreign SC2 player, not a Korean SC2 player. I guess he must really like Stephano's style. Times are changing. Now if only Stephano -- being elevated in such a way by a BW legend -- really cared about it, haha. Anyways, thanks for translating the interview!

Thank you very much for the interview. <3 Jaedong.

Thanks for the interview! So happy that JD could get his first sc2 win!

stephano must be loving life right now, he should go on a man date with jaedong

A professional must strive for the best results, no matter what the situation at hand may be.
Jaedong4ever. I will wait as long as I have to for your domination in SC2.

does anybody know what that logo on his t-shirt is about? it was on all the team8 jackets at the match too, but i only count 5 white stripes, shouldn't it be 8 stripes or something?
thanks for translation! I might be stretching it a bit, but if you consider the red space between the white lines as red lines, then there are 5 white lines and 3 red lines, totaling 8.
Also, note that between n white lines there are n - 1 red lines. So, if you draw the lines in a row (ex: | | | | |), then you will always obtain an odd number of combined red and white lines.

i shall wait even until the end of time if necessary

That ace match was pretty damn good, I thought Jaedong played quite well even compared to some Code S zergs.
|
I guess he felt strange because he isn't confident against protoss and still don't understand the game (his ZvZ was also a little odd, he doesnt seem to understand the concept of attacking/droning in ZvZ). He lost his first Starcraft 2 against a protoss because he did a weird move (and suicide half of his army), showing that he is still trying to figure out this match up.

And you are modo?...
Obviously it just means that he still doesn't have the skill in Starcraft 2 to understand his mistakes. If there was less to do to determine the outcome of a game in Starcraft 2, it wouldn't be the same players who win every tournaments (and he wouldn't say: I can be the best). Starcraft 2 is still not as balance as Brood War (we will see with HotS) but the skill cap is definitely big enough for that the best player win. And I don't even know why I have to say that, even on a casual game, the best player win most of the time if it's not totally random.

He played well but a high master on EU server can do that. Don't under estimate code s, a or even b players, they are most of the time GM on Korean server and I don't think JD is GM at the moment. He just executed perfectly a build and won, not enough to be compared to a sc2 progamer.

Inspiring interview, jaedong's professionalism always surprises me. I have faith

From that facial expression and word of determination, I am feeling that we are in for yet another reign of tyranny. Keep being mad, JD, keep being mad.

Thanks for translation, he seems to happy after that win

Jaedong always so professional and optimistic. We'll be waiting, Tyrant.
