Is BW4LIFE too cheesy of a name ? Maybe we should just call it the BW initiative to show that we are a part of that project more or less? We need a name before Friday next week when im filling in all the papers.

Ok, we'll go with Swedish Brood War Initiative. Like I said previously, I'm not very good att marketing, names, graphics etc. But I'm good with numbers when they're about money that is.

If you want to contribute as a foreigner, information will come up when our bank account has been approved. So sometime shortly after friday next week (the time when I will found the SBWI) Thanks for the support

It is a great idea, but remember that to be eligible for the money there is a little bit of crucial paperwork to be done, and mechanisms of bureacracy to ensure that the people that have signed up 1. Are swedish citizens. 2. Have a registred home adress that matches the "tax-address". 3. A phone number that they can call to check that the person actually is aware that they are part of the member roster. 4. That the use of the money is properly noted, and that reciepts are kept. If you look at this from an anti-scam perspective it makes a lot of sense really, but you need a lot more commitment from the members than just a quick sign-up in this thread.

Stuff that needs to be done with the paperwork is iirc that you have to have two meetings (announced two weeks in advance publicly and on the sverok site) with "Ordförande" & "Kassör" (firmatecknare) and at least two suppleants, recordings from these two meetings with a vote for the start-up of the initiative and a budget and some other stuff like that.

When you have gotten the green light for the go-ahead, you can PM me for all the required personal information for the SVEROK register.

I really hope that this pans out well, and do not be scared of the paperwork, it is really not that hard tbh and i know a lot of different casual SVEROK gaming communities that works smoothly to their purposes.

Just do not invent fake members, since then you are likely to get busted and will go to jail for fraud

Edit: I might be talking some shit here, should have doublechecked my info before posting but need to sleep now...

Sounds really interesting, if this were to happen I'd love to join.

Are we talking live events here? (in stockholm or similar)

You might be talking some shit here? Oh, you have no Idea, son.

First of all, trying to poke some holes in my boat, as a manner of speaking, while not backing it up is exactly what you are doing here. I makes my thread seem unserious for the person seeing this for the first time. This type of posting is what could possibly destroy this project. Only this type of posting could kill this organization by making it's members "disapear". That's why I will prove that all you said, was wrong, outdated or simply obvious in that we have to follow Swedish law. READ CAREFULLY!

This is the fourth organization of this sort I've created. The first organization with ~100 people, second ~200, and the last is ~25. The first two were one time event things, but the last one has now existed for more than a year and I have handed over that responsibility.

"It is a great idea, but remember that to be eligible for the money there is a little bit of crucial paperwork to be done, and mechanisms of bureacracy to ensure that the people that have signed up"

The paperwork is NOT, I repeat, NOT what it used to be. It has been simplified to a large extent.

"1. Are swedish citizens"

that is, as I have previously written in the OP, only necessary to receive the state funding for that individual member. If you'd read the whole thread instead, this wouldn't have been something to answer for. They can still be members, as it doesn't say that they can't in the laws that regard SveRoK. I read the laws on that, before posting anything about foreigners joining. It has happened before that organizations have had foreign members.

"Have a registred home adress that matches the "tax-address"

I have never in my life met anyone except maybe hobos who doesn't have this. C/O works as well, so there is no possible way this is a problem.

About leaving a phone number for the swedish members. I think sharing our real phone numbers in an organization like this should not be problematic. It will, as previously mentioned in the thread, not be used for anything by SBWI. However, SveRoK(the state) will call a random amount of members to check that the organization isn't a fraud. Since we have no plan to be a fraud, this is not going to be a problem. During my 7 years within these organizations I have been called 2 times, and I was CEO most of the time!

"That the use of the money is properly noted, and that reciepts are kept."

If you read what I have written under foreign members, you will see that I have already explained this. This is not something hard, or unusual. Who wouldn't keep his/her finances in check in their real life? I happen to be taking my major in economics as well, not to say that my experience from previous organizations didn't teach me how to run these organizations economically. When I was 16 I ran the whole economy for a 100 person event.

"but you need a lot more commitment from the members than just a quick sign-up in this thread." These are future members it says so in my thread. I didn't think I could sign up with their TL ID:s to get publicly funded. Did you think anyone here was that stupid?

I have by counting my personal BW friends, enough members to make this work (5 total which is minimum for the funding). This will again never be a problem.

"Stuff that needs to be done with the paperwork is iirc that you have to have two meetings (announced two weeks in advance publicly and on the sverok site) with "Ordförande" & "Kassör" (firmatecknare) and at least two suppleants, recordings from these two meetings with a vote for the start-up of the initiative and a budget and some other stuff like that."

This information is completely outdated and wrong. One meeting is all that is required, and not two weeks in advance. It was never something that had to public, nor on the Sverok site. We will surely have all the positions an organization requires, such as "Ordförande & Kassör" (CEO and Cashier). They are not required to be "firmateknare"(able to withdraw money and sign in the organizations name) anymore, that can be chosen freely at the meeting. "Recordings" where never required. Only notes from the meetings decisions which will ofc be posted here. Why wouldn't we take notes of our glorious meeting? Voting is obviously the only way to run an organization of this sort. Now since this will be the type called "internet organization" we won't need the physical presence of anyone really. It can be held online.

I did the paperwork last summer. It was not a problem.

Yeah, read under Brood Bar about live events in STHLM. "If this were to happen..." Read my last post to Kairo about if this will happen or not, and rest assured. We who didn't doubt will have a good time, when this is up and running. I promise you that.

@Kairo
Now, I hope this thread doesn't turn into some kinda rage thread. I will contact a mod if that seems to be the case since that's not what it was intended for. My way to answer the first real critic, you, is as factual as I can keep myself, since this project means something to me. Now my post is only about proving your facts wrong, nothing about you personally.

We've never met but, if you'll be in the organization when we are having our first Brood Bar, I'll buy the first round

Thank you all for the support! It is what, together with my love for BW, what keeps me going at 4:30 in the morning when reading about taxes. I've made an important update on what I've read so far about taxation of the prize polls. This affects all of the BW fans and I recommend checking it out, even though it sounds boring. Why? because I want to hear your opinions too, on what type of events you'd prefer SBWI to sponsor. SBWI is not sponsoring for any private interest, it's for the good of the BW community. So which type of sponsoring would you prefer?

(Updated on taxation and prizes)

(More info will come on this when I've gotten all the exact numbers from the Swedish Tax Department. )

Yeah, Swedish Brood War Initiative sounds much better. BW4LIFE and similar names sound too... childish. At least in my opinion.

I'm intrigued, both because this sounds cool and because I had no idea Sweden had programs like this.

By the look of it, we just secured ourselves one major BW tournament/year. That is really awesome on your part Jaevlaterran! Now we need to find other ways to hold another event. Like altitude, it is necessary to contact new sponsors.
