My memory is a bit shady, but as far as I recall, ChanmanX, Engival, ACSlater and Blackjack666 all had legit records, in the sense that they were actually IN every BGH 3v3 they won, and disc'd every loss.

WinPimp and TheWorkHorse were the first big winbotters that I remember.

There a Korean guy who posted Brood War history something. He talks about early final series (pre-Boxer era) and gamers as well as late ones.

The link has been posted here before but I can't find it. (More like.. I am too lazy to find it ><)

I remember that link, too
There was also this with the history of Terran:

I can't find the other though T_T

is there an english translation for this?

and i recall a link like that too but couldn't find it either -_-

Any date before January 5th is quite impossible.

Beta signups were January 5th.

TheWorkHorse and Engival had similar records, those was crazy like 11453-5-0.
no way those could be real.

I know this is a very old thread but I have been playing since 98 (still play) and it feels like yesterday to me. Miss these times. Anyways this was one of the main sites that kept up with stats. Back before winbot and when the 28.8K modem was just being replaced by the 56K modem achieving this many games was bragging rights for whoever had them. Hope some of the people that used to play back when get a chance to look at this. The site is just over 14 years old

Lots of 1 base strats. Fast expansion was not too common at start. Zerg was the first faction where FE was introduced. It took a while till terrans and Protoss did the same.

Tank drops on the small ledge of Lost Temple, Brood War USA-1, Blizzard had a manned tech support channel M-F 8am-5PM PST, making unlimited record names, Channel Wizz and Clan -x17, when the game was ours...

One of the main difference with old gameplay is that what you call cheese or tech build now was what you called standard gameplay before, particularly for terran and protoss. I remember when i came back playing in 2008 suddenly they call me cheeser, i was like "wtf is this thing about cheese?" I wonder who is the dickhead that came out with something so stupid as to call a high level well timed adjusted bo -__________- 0 "cheese..." I see protoss going fast expand suddenly of course i am gonna speed ling you... dah...

he was probably a loser.

True. I miss being able to create my own game, name it whatever I wanted, and the games actually counted on my main stats or creating a profile yourself, being able to unally and turn on an obnoxious teammate was very satisfying when it was deserved. I think one of the things I miss the most is how unrestricted it was. Now everything is censored and troll proofed. To the point it feels like everyone is wearing bumper guards and we are all in our own little protective bubbles.I play SCBW from 1998-2010 until WOL beta came out and have been playing all the way till now.Build orders were not mainstream to newbs. In fast you had to do a little digging on Webcrawler to find a .mpg you could download. Now everyone is at 80-100 APM in Bronze league mimicking a build they saw MC(insert Pro) to last week.

Has anyone ever made a Baseball UMS for SC2 like the one in SCBW? It seems like every sport but Baseball has been done.

Seeing this records page reminded me there were people who kept a record of maximum losses and minimum wins, they were called "freelosers". They would leave the game at the moment they decided they had won it. Sometimes they missed when the opponent left before and they were too slow to react or something, resulting in recording a win and a less clean freelose record.

LOL! I remember those too. I also remember in team games in melee if someone dropped the other person would be like, "ally up?". LOL! sometimes it was cool and other times, "Naaaah" People would literally beg to the ally. (tears)

Also I have a lot of memories of playing a lot of various types of games with groups of people hanging in certain channels (not necessarily a clan?). There would be some channels where maybe 10 people would gather almost everyday at different times and play 3v3 together or against public, then some UMS micro tourney or whatever fun game UMS (lol I remember one where you had to make a minimap-drawing with pylons according to a word said by judge and then the judge of the game would pick the winner), then some 1v1 and people watching.. Lots and lots of 3v3 played on hunters. Good times I miss these days tbh, when the public servers were crowded with lots of people. You would have the "public chaters" hanging out on "public chat" who connected outside of the game client with some chat client and you could talk to them but not play games with them so there was this community there for some reason. And the Diablo 2 / Warcraft 2 / Warcraft 3 guys could be on the same channels so there was just really a big pool of people talking about lots of things with common interest in these games. Had lots of craaazy conversations sometimes really long and fun.

There are still people like that around, for example Never)MVP( on iccup. Whenever he loses on his olimpic account he would beg you to leave and propose you free wins vs his other account hellkira
