Why isn't it used more often? People often complain about T's lack of a late-game superweapon and I think that Vessels aren't getting the credit they deserve. No shields speedlots and goons just get absolutely raped by tanks faster than they can put out the damage required to break the push and carrier packs (which they're always in.. tight groups I mean), when brought to half life just aren't as good. Plus as a bonus you can use D-Matrix on forward tanks if they're getting pounded by Z's. >

I'm not a good T so I was just wondering why I never see it thx.

Sci vess are expensive, and EMP has a small area of effect. This seems to discourage people from their usage.

The only player I've seen use EMP consistently is joe.smurf. He liked to EMP a Nexus and follow with a Nuke, and he used them effectively vs protoss troops.

Overall, they are expensive and take a bit of micro to use.

if you got enough SV and magic to make 12 d matrixed tanks, i'm guessing its not going to be able to do much vs there 12 stasis feilds.

If terrans had too much gas they could just make tanks&bcs&gols cuz that is pretty much unstoppable. Or lots of ghosts! *g*

EMP shockwave is very rare seen cuss is only used when terran gets m&m/tank, and that almost never happens. I've seen HellGhost and Elky doing that pretty good, but in fact it's a strat not much viable cause if toss stormsSkill is high..... FORGET ABOUT YOUR rines It's very effective on the first minutes of the game when toss doesn't have templars (and terran doesn't have SCI Vessels), if you push hard with stimpack and build bunkers in the middle of the fight toss get's very pressured but Vessels take much time coming out and when they do you still have to wait for 100 mana to EMP some asses, toss gets PSI storm first and drives you back easily. In my opinion it may be very helpfull (weakes toss forces A LOT!!) but terrans often don't have time to upgrade weapons to Level 1 that grants him +3 to tanks on normal mode and +5 on siege and vultures +2 that are a very more important tech, what to expect with SCI vessels... I think it's cost effective, but not time effective.

NOTE: I still think mm/tank+SCI Vessels vs toss is a good strat.

Science vessel in tvp should be for t what an arbiter is for p. (Unlike vs z where it's more like an ht). They can be very useful sometimes, but more often that's late in the game. Building them earlier won't be as helpful as more units. Same goes for arbiters.

But t users still don't play with them nearly enough vs p.

Using EMP could be a factor of the outcome if used correctly...even if it's only one or two times used...EMP the temps or men and attack...most likely you'll win the battle...

In my limited experience, it seems like if you have enough money to makes SciVessels+EMP plus maintain enough tanks for a steady push you are already winning anyway.
My psychiatrist says I have deep-seated Ragneuroses :(

people...tanks splash damage has the same radius of a sci vessel emp(close enough). So the tanks are even BETTER at removing sheild than emp agaisnt groud troops except vs archons maybe (only ground unit which has more than 140 sheilds). The only practical use for emp is vs carriers (which tend to bunch up) to remove there huge amounts of sheild.

i would rather improve my spending non stop or place mines/tanks on better spots instead of trying to make vassels and hoping that i will have a chance of catching toss units in groups.

SciFac + EMP + Vessel = 400 gas = 4 tanks.

4 tanks can make a difference for me, a science vessel usually can't.

By the way, I am one of those people who bitch about lack of super weapon for terran in late game ( Zerg has them, Protoss has them ), I don't consider science vessel, nuke, or ghosts with cloak and lockdown superweapons because they suck ass.
