Legatus has a valid point, it was just worded harshly. When MJ switched to baseball, I didn't really follow up on him. However, if he was doing well, I would certainly feel happy for him because I like the guy. Saying someone is dead to you is a pretty extreme thing to say. If Hiya won like 6 GSLs in a row after switching to SC2, would you not feel ANYTHING for him? Not even a 'good on him'? If so, then I guess you are right in using that phrase.

Anywho, I wish Anytime all the luck in the world in finding a new home or another path in life.

I agree with Legatus 100%. Despite his phrasing and presentation of his thoughts, I totally agree with the idea of it. I love July, Nada, Boxer, etc. Always wanted them to succeed when playing SC. When they play sc2? I don't really care how they place in tournaments and whatnot. If they were the best player or the worst player on earth doesn't concern me. Of course because of my attachment to them I would want them to make money and whatnot, but in the end it's not the game I love. I LOVE Jaedong. If he went to do something else, of course I would kind of keep tabs on him, but ultimately it wouldn't be the same.

It's really hard to express my thoughts on this and I might even contradict myself due to my wording, but you get the general idea.

Hope all of these guys find jobs within SC. Anytime, my favourite protoss, better not leave me T_T

why is it that people have this special need to celebrate a player's switch to SC2, and then bash on the game in the fucking BW forum? you'd think people would be more tactful.

"everyone is entitled to their own opinions" is not an good excuse for being a jackass.

if you read my posts you will also see myself contradicting too, yeah I get it maybe its only because of the fact that I do watch SC2 from time to time(lack of PL) that I've not lost any sense of attachment, but the way he put it out is so damn wrong and since I don't know this person at all it makes it hard to know what he thinks, but judging from what his responses are he is trying to say something like "if you don't play BW anymore, you don't exist".

note to self:never engage in a pointless debate on a pointless topic where there is nothing at stake.

I wonder how Sang, Speed, and Ryul2 got selected to get put on the 8th team, while players like Hiya, Hyun, Shine, Ruby, and Midas got left in the dust. I really hope that those five players can find a way to stay in BW as I quite like all of them :/

Also going to miss Lomo, though it was pretty obvious that he was very unlikely to perform well ever again.

they probably had such a small salary/unknown reputation that they could afford to keep them on the kespa team and no other teams would be interested in bidding for them. the kespa team wont be successful without more practice partners. that's why it's important that they form a proper B-team for kespa (as well as more A-teamers) ASAP.

I want to know too, my first thought was money but everyone except Jaedong got a pay raise so thats obviously not the case because then instead of giving a raise they could have gotten a few more players.

I think its because they needed to have some mandatory 3 rookies on the team.

The only game I remember of Hiya playing is the one which he made FBH cry. He really isn't very memorable - despite being one of the most talented out of the leftovers list.

They wanted to select 3 rookies after the 6 protected players they already had. Han Sang Yong (former head coach of Oz) who now coaches the Dream Team, thinks highly of Ryul2 and Speed (former Oz players) so that's why they were recruited even though they have not played any PL games. As for Sang, his record is quite good, 2 wins 3 losses in PL and a Bo3 win over Light in the OSL prelims. Also, you can't have Jae Ssang (Jaedong + Jaehoon) without (P)Jae Sang.

Edit:
It's often been said though that Sang is a lucky guy. Which is quite true since he's 1 of only 4 MBC players to find a new team.

It's strange that nobody's signed Hiya yet. Woongjin should be salivating at the chance to replace Really with someone who is arguably better in all respects. STX could use a Terran to back up Bogus, and Khan's lineup of Turn, Reality and Sharp is pretty much inferior to Hiya all around. Honestly, even SKT could put him to good use; the only other Terran backing up Fantasy is Ssak.

i'm mainly into sc2 but once I was introduced to BW from sc2 I've been following BW as much as sc2 and I can tell you that you're just flat out wrong..BW really is an amazing game and the graphics aren't /that/ bad if you just know what you're looking at...but seriously, you're acting like an idiot telling people what or what isn't good/bad. The game isn't outdated, it's still being played professionally. you probably haven't watched a game of professional brood war in your life. get to know the game before you hate on it.

And saying its limping along after freaking 12 years is a compliment if anything, 12 years for the game to finally start dying out? My god, in that light BW looks like (and is in my opinion) a fucking masterpiece!! hahaha

Thanks for all the intelligent responses everyone :D

And to you endy....you sound awful mad bro.

You can't post something totally out of topic and simply ask "I don't want to be flamed".

It's not because you said at the beginning of your post that BW was a legendary game that you can write bullshit right after.
Your logic is flawed. I never tried to argue the game wasn't old. What I said is that your only argument was "very old => outdated", which simply doesn't make sense. Is football outdated just because it's over a century old ?

You mentioned graphics ? This is highly subjective. Most people in this thread do prefer BW graphics over SC2 graphics.

Oh after re-reading your post, the only other thing you put forward to try to convince us the game is outdated is
seeing the same names...same faces....same strategies...That have been executed for years...come on, eventually old has to give way for new in that regard.

which is simply ignorant. There are new players, there are new maps, we have new strategies as well as metagame shifts very often. Or when there aren't new players, we have old players who were slumping and came out of nowhere to win an OSL. Every BW fan here will agree that Jangbi's path to victory last OSL was breathtaking. Who are you to tell us what we should like ?

If you have more convincing arguments in store, please do send me a PM as I don't want to derail this thread further.

The only game I remember of Hiya playing is the one which he made FBH cry. He really isn't very memorable - despite being one of the most talented out of the leftovers list.

Not... memorable?

No but really. Go watch Hiya vs. Boxer (you've got to know that one), or Stork vs. Hiya from Bacchus '10. That was a really fun series. And also why I think Hiya should go to Khan. He and Stork could just be dorks together all day <3
