Well, the ethics of TL getting hits from their interviews is kind of questionable too, even if we do link to the source. The only thing that is weird, is why the hell would they want to be dependent on a bunch of people who do this for free and could burn out/randomly decide they don't feel like it. I get the feeling maybe someone who was supposed to do the translation for them just took the easy way out, and will do translations for things he can't just steal. Maybe. Pure inane speculation. | ||

What Daniel could have done, was copy/paste the translations, and add a line in the bottom along the lines of "Content by fomos, translations by ____ of tl.net" (or similar). Everybody wins. He gets free translations to post, translators would be reaching a bigger base, and fomos establishes a better relationship with TL. Instead, he posts this: lol everybody's been stealing material from fomos for years without permission, read the bottom of every article,not legal and the pics being used everywhere as their content, highly illegal lol. if I see fomos content being used anywhere other than fomos, pics too, it's gonna come back right where it's supposed to,translations,etc. Don't take fomos content without permission,its illegal. Don't bitch at me for bringing back wut is rightfully fomos's property to begin With, that includes pics as well Actions will be taken especially if someone is profiting from it So instead of thanking the people who volunteer their time to bring these interviews to the rest of the world, he prefers to call them thieves and threaten them with 'actions', thus alienating parts of a community instead of unifying it. So if translators stop translating (or move to DES sources instead), Daniel loses out on translations. This means either doing all the translations himself, finding his own staff of volunteers or not have english translations on fomos. And for what? ego? I don't see the logic. | ||

Translators a) always cite the source, and b) actually do something other than copy/paste (and spend a good deal of time to do the translation; average post-Proleague translation is around 15-30 minutes/interview at least.) I guess TL doesn't have much right to rage at him, but I think Fomos/SDM should have the decency to thank the translator. | ||
