The add-on's are not flush against the wall btw. There's like half a matrix space or w/e so tanks can exit. Pretty much out of habit now one of the first things I do after game starts is look at my position and decide where I'm going to place my production buildings. Like, just take a couple seconds to see where you can place all your production to fit one screen. On January 30 2011 11:28 Spekulatius wrote: How does one grab the "0" button? Am I the only one to have a hand that can't reach the zero without losing the a,q,w or 1,2,3 buttons which my left hand normally hovers over? I always wondered how people could use the buttons 7+. I'm kinda confined to 1-6, it works fine, but I'm curious. Anyone? You can easily hit 7,8,9,0 with your thumb even with your left hand mainly on the left side of the keyboard. It might feel awkward at first, but it becomes like regular typing after some practice. If it matters to you at all, Flash hits 7,8,9,0 with his thumb as well. Or, you can just pivot around the base of your hand and hit those keys with your index finger. Unless you have gigantic hands, everyone needs to shift their hands at least slightly to hit those keys with your index finger.

You dont have to go out of your way and search stuff, you dont even need to post AT ALL. I just wanted to receive all the knowledge I can find and that anyone can give me. Theres really nothing wrong with that.

Optimally you want 6 barracks/1 factory/1 starport OR 6 barracks/2 starports. As for hotkeys use the f buttons. Plan ahead and build all your production facilities in one area so you can fit them all on one screen. Then bind that screen to either f2, f3, or f4. Bind your rally point area to another f key as well. That way you can easily go back to your macro area and build units quickly without having to scroll around. Then just train yourself to go back to that area every X seconds so that your production cycle stays on track. That doesn't seem bad, but if i was going for a 2 base tank build, what would be better? I'm currently doing 3 rax, expand into double fact and rax into starport. I get really high in minerals (1.5k) but then i start being totally stable and even using a little more gas then i make. I can 3rd expo quicker for gas, but so much minerals! Should i add more rax? use vultures ( i havent even built one before a game i just played)? What can I spend excess minerals on w/ a 2 base 5 rax 2 fact 1 port build?

Yes, this may not be DDR, but rhythm is as important in SC as it is in any game. You need to build internal timings, or small ques telling you when to build new units, as your old set has just finished spawning. If you constantly shuffle through an internal list of important items you will develop a flow to your game, such as: build workers, build supply facilities, build units, use units. The more you play, the faster ur rhythm is and the more clean your actions are, so practice a lot! Yes, very true actually! I kinda felt a rhythm going on as to when I build SCVs, press f2, build units, attack when I feel like I have an adequate amount, and build depots. It really felt well. i'll work more on this.

F2-F4 for your main/nat/3rd is best for moving workers quickly from harass. These are the most optimal hotkey settings, but in the end it is up to personal preference.

Forgive my weird hot keys ![]() O rly? That would be a cool trick. Everyone has pretty much touched on it already but generally what you do is if you just have one or two production facilities you can hotkey them up and 4m5m. Once you get like 3-4+ then you usually just keep on hotkeyed either to a number hotkey or location hotkey and use that to go back to your barracks screen and mouse click through them all quickly. The really important thing is developing a good feel and rhythm so you always come back and macro consistently.
